Multiple refugee claimants have been found in possession of child pornography at or near the Quebec border crossing

Just gonna say this

Stop crying about immigration and refugees until you understand the laws involved.

it has NOTHING to do with allowing anyone in with open arms and has NOTHING to do with trudeau @SabreFan1 and it's kind of getting under my skin that so many people have the internet at their fingers yet ignorantly choose to lay blame where it doesn't belong for whatever reason

I'll take your word for it and exit the thread.  I don't care enough about Canada's immigration problems to get deeply into it.  I'm more concerned about keeping up with what's going on right now here in the US.  What's going on right now will be in future history books.  Canada's immigration will be a footnote at best.

Good point. However, the IRA never operated as a Catholic organization. They did not commit any of their acts of war or atrocities in the name of a god, but in the name of independence from British rule.

Disclaimer: This is not meant as a thread derailment, but merely an opportunity to clarify a point. Now back to your regularly scheduled broadcasting.

That struggle has always really been about Irish Republican versus British Loyalist. The religious aspect was always window dressing and has really nothing to do with it.

This is correct.

Canada has an official Multi-Cultural policy, so why would immigrants want to assimilate?   Ethnic communities have their own newspapers and own TV stations.  In Richmond there are stores with Chinese only.   You can function in Canada without knowing a word of our official languages.

And that is entirely wrong.

I think it will be on statues. You guys really seem to like those down there.

I didn't even know about the 3rd party country rule until we started talking about it honestly.

They like their statues in the south.  They still can't get over the fact that they lost a war to us 150 years ago.  With the exception of maybe Pennsylvania, those of us up north don't much care about statues.

In NYC statues are pretty much just tourist attractions and places to eat your lunch.

If Canada's government wanted to ignore any treaty and change it's immigration policies to make it more difficult to take in refugees fleeing the US, Trump and Congress would be fine with it.  The private prison lobbyists here are lobbying Washington to jail immigrants and they are buying and building prisons in order to hold them for as long as they can.  They spent and continue to spend heavily on the Republican party to get them elected.

One of the first things that Trump did when he got into office was to break an immigration agreement with another country.

Immigration is one thing I'm most definitely conservative on.  I don't want to jail immigrants, but I'm fine with deporting them.  Even the ones that built a life while they were dodging the law.

I notice that there aren't many in Washington state, although I am looking forward to the Chris Cornell statue when it's done.

This thread devolved into what I thought it would: Refugee = Muslim. Muslim = Bad.

I'm heartened to see so many stand up for facts and logic though, bravo to you all.

As for the subject at hand child pornography is unacceptable and those caught with it should either be deported or put in jail (wanting deportation, but the justice system gives everyone their day in court, which is fair).

The tweets in that article are hilarious. "You guys are close to being outnumbered by the statue". "Biggest crowd since the inauguration". Too funny

Just so we're clear.  On the eastern front, many pogroms were at the behest of holy leaders who swore that the villagers were doing gods work.  Tens of and possibly thousands of "godless" people were killed.  Some areas had rules in which untended land was turned over to the church or spiritual leaders of the area.

You're completely missing the point though.  My initial statement was very clear.  The Quran much like the bible is not an inherently evil book.  But cherry pick specific parts of it and it becomes vile.

People pretending 1 religion is somehow better than the other are simply put jackasses.  Like completely and simply jackasses.  Pretending your imaginary friend is better than someone elses because of some specific set of medieval grievances set about in the holy land 600 to 900 years ago is almost laughably stupid.  I killed you in the name of my god.  I killed you in the name of mine.  Nuh uh, ya i did.  Noooooo my god is better

It's so childish that it is insulting to anyone with any modicum of intelligence.  Believe in what you want but don't pretend that it is somehow better than what someone else believes in or practices because I can pick apart all 4 major religions with relative ease.

But since SOMEONE decided to railroad this story in to their usual omg muslims iz da badz let's get back on track

A few Haitians who have been seeking citizenship in the US out of the nearly 4000 who have fled the US to canada due to the 3rd party border laws between countries were caught with child pornography

People need to understand how great it is the border services can still capably commit their obligations under such circumstances.  This 3rd party law needs to end.  We're not a dumping ground for refugees period.  We share a similar language in french/french english english but we are not a safe haven for anyone.

Seeing only 2 people ahve been caught is both cause for relief but also concern because who is to say more haven't come in.  Who is to say we're paying more attention to possible issues with migrants than we are with these same evils and issues at home.  It is time to start setting things right in this country.  The previous government dropped the ball and the new government is still far to kid gloves in this aspect

As far as Germany goes, we will leave that for another time.

People have always been using religion to justify vile things.

There are lot of religious people that do great work in helping people, trying to stop the violence, building shelters etc.

Non believers, always like to point out corruption, extremism, deviants, inquisition, forceful conversion etc.

Its kind of like how most people bring up Islam when only bad things happen.

City that I grew up in is about 80% Muslim, and we spent war alongside them.

When it comes to Islam, most Americans and Canadiens are beyond clueless and uninformed.

My personal view on religion is that is my own business, and I keep my views for myself, I have no interest in converting anyone.

Sometimes though, people like to mock religion and belittle people with their comments.

Imo, what some atheist dip$&!# thinks about my religion, has no bearing on my life.

The thing that you are misunderstanding, is the fact that I don't think any religion is better vs. other one.

But right now radical Islam poses biggest threat in this world.

Left wingers and apologists constantly are trying to find excuses though, I am not sure why.

They draw idiotic comparisons that make no sense, kind of how some posters would interject WBC in discussions about terrorism.

Sure they are twisted individuals that have nothing to do with real Christians, but to compare them to terrorists that murdered thousands is a joke.

Because at 40, clearly a British man loses all his worth....

And if you don't graduate high school, well, Canadian society has no use for you.

Buuut, if you are a delusional psychopathic homicidal cannibal who immigrated from China, all you need is counseling and you're back out in society....

This country's principles are so screwed up, it's not even funny. It's pathetic.

How is that guy still in Canada?

As soon as he served his sentence, they should have put him on a slow boat back to motherland.

They are looking to take Washington's statue down by me, I guess Jackson has to go to as well.

Parts of this country are getting screwier by the day...

Those were different times in the 18th & 19th century.  People like Washington aren't celebrated because they owned slaves, they are celebrated for the good that they did do.

I personally don't care about statues one way or the other.  Keep them, get rid of them, it's all the same to me.

People are watching what occurred in 18th century with 21st century vision.

After statues, they might attempt to re write the history, It is slippery slope to decide who stays and who goes.

One man's terrorist, another mans patriot.

There are those who are trying to rewrite history and there is now those who are trying to erase it.  There's a caste system in this country that's nearly as pervasive as the one in India.  It's rooted in greed.  The lower castes are slowly becoming indentured servants.  Even Adam Smith warned against capitalism running amok.

The US Supreme Court helped begin it in 1976 with their decision in Buckley v. Valeo and made it much worse in 2010 with Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission.

I want those 4 jailed here .... if we simply deport them they may not face justice back home. I am more then happy to see my tax dollars jail these individuals.

I hate the idea of paying for these losers but I do agree with you. If we let the go they will likely not face justice.

Look at this story from Finland, if this happened in Canada I would want this cowardly loser to spend the rest of his life in prison.

Turku knife attacker was asylum seeker, presumably targeted women – investigators

The suspect behind the deadly stabbing attack in the Finnish city of Turku was an 18-year-old Moroccan asylum-seeker, investigators said, adding that it seems the attacker deliberately targeted women.
