[Rumour] Penguins in trade talks for 3rd-line center

Recommended Posts

Pittsburgh will not trade for soft Sutter and his 4.4 million per yr contract to play 3rd line.. They have some great young guys to fill role..For sure not Sutter and 4.4 Million..

I would really like to see Sutter packaged in trade, Very soft for a big guy and we have guys here that can fill his role now..

They don't need a 3c to stay in the playoff race in the reg season.

They'll need one for a 3peat though.

My guess is they hold off, banking on cap relief until TDL. Unless they're gifted a premium checking C, with cap retained.

this is why they aren't in a hurry. If they can land a 3C for a good price they'll do it early but they don't have to rush into anything.

Summer time. We're just hoping for something to happen, any tidbit will do, until we actually think on it.

The pens can't afford the calibre of player they want in that slot, yet. There will be injuries.....

There's one guy that makes a ton of sense: Jonathan Marchessault

1 year from UFA. Only a $750K cap hit. And he would give them yet another legitimate PP threat.

Question is, will Pittsburgh part with their 2018 1st for another 1-year rental?

Habbies also want a C, or two? A few teams may be looking?

Duchene, RNH, even Tavares. Seems the ones who might move, are either too pricey(high-end); whilst the talented, high FO% guys are aging(Perreault, Hanzal, McClement, etc)

Currently a few injured C's also..maybe a good time to deal Sutter? Retain a chunk, if you can fetch a 1st perhaps?(not from Pitt though..likely late 1st)

Duchene for Hagelin, Pouliot and 1st/2nd?

Or Duchene for Mattaa + something?

Avs can retain a million or two?

Seriously doubt the Pens have any interest in Duchene or RNH.  Maybe if Crosby or Malkin gets injured, then they might want one?

I would say Granlund would be more likely than Sutter if any of our centers were if interest.

isnt pitts pretty low on bargaining chips for granlund?, considering his good season, havent kept track of there prospects and stuff.
