Fun fact.

Vanek leads the NHL in points for players who play an average of 15 min a game or less.

funner fact.

Thomas Vanek was +47 in his second year in the league.

he has worked that down to +4 career

he should be back to 0 before the end of February

Yip. I love the guy and all. Fun to watch him and his old school style. But he is a wreck defensively. A playoff team with a poor PP will probably bid for his services at the deadline.

Uhhhhhh when you play on bad teams your +/- tends to go down.

From his third year up until last year, his average +/- was -1.23 per year.  Almost even. And that's over 10 seasons.

And remember, +/- doesn't account for PP goals.

The Canucks literally have only 2 players with positive +/-. Horvat and Tanev.

True. But He doesn't pass my eye test. Vanek and Goldy keep missing the back check through the middle, and get inside position in our zone, pre game pep talks. Lol.

He has four points and counting tonight including a hat trick.

13 points in 14 games for the Blue Jackets since the trade.  He's helping them make the post-season.

Benning realistically couldn't have gotten more for him given his bad rep (poor showing on his last team).  That's how Benning was able to sign him for such a cheap contract in the first place (not alot of interest in the league last off-season).
