-Vintage Canuck-
Quote That didn't take long. The NHL sent a note to its officials Friday instructing them to ease up a bit in their crackdown on slashing and faceoff infractions, Sportsnet's John Shannon reports. TVA's Renaud Lavoie later added some further detail. There has been a significant increase in the number of penalties called for both slashing and faceoff violations in the preseason, and it has brought about criticism from players, as well as concern from fans and the media. Earlier this week, Boston Bruins forward Brad Machand called the increased enforcement of existing faceoff violation rules "an absolute joke." https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/1380573
Derp...
Well that explains a bit of the no calls in the Nucks LA game last night. How can the players keep up with changing rules from game to game haha
Rob_Zepp
Just when I thought there were going to be two NBA leagues......perhaps now, we can get back to playing hockey versus a "foul" every time down the "floor".
Master Mind
This is why reffing is so inconsistent. They get mixed messages from the league every other day.
PunjabiCanucks
Just when we thought we've had enough questionable penalty calls in the NHL during key moments this can ruin it. Be consistent or dont do it all tbh. Imagine taking a slashing penalty that was a love tap, and putting you away from making a comeback or holding on to your lead.... With the faceoffs, the Defending team sets up first (I believe) and then the ref focuses more on the other team who most likely will get called for the faceoff violation

Industrious1
The NHL really doesn't know what it wants. They need a less bi-polar group to run this League and the department of safety.
goalie13
I was just listening to the intermission of the Canucks-LA game. They said that the NHL will keep up the calls to slashes to the hands, but would ease off on the ones to the pants and the legs.
