"Word is Dale Tallon recently circled back to kick tires on a possible Gudbranson deal."

"A couple of names to keep an eye on from Team Luongo are Denis Malgin, who the Canucks have shown interest in before and Jayce Hawryluk who represents just about everything the Canucks are seeking."

Jayce Hawryluk is a low risk, high reward sort of prospect. He's a great skater with a high motor and a great work ethic. He's probably still another year or so away from making his presence felt in the NHL. He could be a very good NHL player one day.

Would be interesting to see if it would be Guddy for Jayce straight up or if there are other pieces involved.

I was just getting to like the guy. Loved his hit on Lucic tonight!

Don't get me wrong, I like how Gudbranson plays the game. Any player that puts Lucic on his rear-end is okay with me. But, unfortunately he is an expendable asset. While we may enjoy hits and plays like this, Erik's skill set isn't exactly screaming elite and if Benning believes that he can get a player that will be a better return in the end then I don't think he'll pass up on it.

Funny you should mention that, while i do agree with you, that this isn't the time to bring back Luongo. But Eventually we might need to bring him back and park his contract in Utica to save our Cap space but until then let him be in Florida, hopefully he will play the darn thing out...

We have enough undersized forwards as it is.

I agree, I would just require that we get the closest thing to a "sure" thing because this pre-season it looked like McCann was going to be a sure thing for them...

I don't see why we'd be interested in trading him right now. That Demers trade would have been garbage had it happened. If Gudbranson is to be moved it should be for a lot more than that, like Duchene-type asking price. You want him? Pay up.

I don't see that at all at the moment. How many other big defenceman like him do we currently have in the lineup?

I'm against trading Guddy unless the other team massively overpays. He brings truculence and intangibles that this team is sorely lacking, and while its unlikely he lives up to his pre draft potential, he's only 25 so the book on him is hardly written.

I don't know if Hawryluk beats out Boeser, Granlund, Baertschi, Goldobin, Dahlen, or any of our similar prospects.

Will he be an NHL player? Sure. But I don't see a need for him in the organization, whereas I do see one for Guddy.

Pass especially if its those two guys listed above.

Love Hawyrluk, but he is massively injury prone.  Plays a hard feisty game, but because of his playing style, has led to frequent wear and tear on him.  Missed 10+ games in all 4 years in playing with Brandon in the WHL, and missed significant time again last year in San Antonio.  Major pass on that.

Pass on Malgin too, mainly because we already have smaller skilled players of his ilk.

That would be an overly underwhelming return for what we paid for Gudbranson originally

Plus I wouldn't pay attention to Botchford anymore...guy has lost severe credibility after he reported Canucks were going to sign Bo Horvat to a bridge deal in mid August.
