The way Gudbranson plays I wish he could skip back to backs so he could be fresh he’s just to damn physical for it not to take a toll.

He took a pretty vicious hit from Reaves in Pittsburgh - and wasn't the same afterwards.

Yeah probably too tired to properly defend himself from taking the full impact of that hit those back to backs are tough on the bigger guys because of all the weight they carry. Shorter people have faster reaction times, greater ability to accelerate body movements, stronger muscles in proportion to body weight, greater endurance, and the ability to rotate the body faster. They are also less likely to break bones in falling. As a consequence of these physical attributes, shorter people can excel as gymnasts, divers, skiers, martial artists, rock climbers, figure skaters, rodeo riders, soccer players and long distance runners. Within their weight classes they are excellent wrestlers, boxers, and weight lifters. Shorter people are also less likely to require surgery for herniated spinal disks. In addition, shorter people are less likely to break a hip from falling. Another advantage of smaller people is that they are less likely to die in auto crashes. One study found that people weighing less than 132 pounds had the lowest risk of dying or suffering serious injuries compared to bigger people. Although height data weren't provided, it is known that height and weight tend to be correlated. Thus, lighter weight people are more likely to be shorter than heavier people. No adjustments for air bag deployment were made, although other studies have found them to negatively affect short people.~Thomas T Samaras

So, bigger players might be a little more tired (especially defencemen with larger minutes) but smaller players will be a little more sore. It likely is pretty even for all players on back to backs. Unfortunately, Dorsett is a warrior and was never going to change his style of play that made him successful. He is doing the right thing long term by retiring, but hopefully once he gets his head wrapped around the idea of no longer being a player he can look into be a part of the game in some capacity. It sounds like he was a great mentor while he was a Canuck. Enjoy your life after your playing career, your grit will be missed!!

HarryCanuck
Is there a remote chance we could get Gudbranson back vs the Leafs? I’d hate to see Kadri try to target one of our players heads again, I’d feel better if we had a deterrent. Calling Jake Virtanen....time to make your mark!
