aGENT
Don't feel a bit bad for the little puke, IMO they let him off easy.

What would have been better though is if Detroit played Calgary later this season and Witkowski got to pummel him at center ice. Unfortunately the two teams dont meetup again this year. ruilin96
Canucks fan should be happy that the Flames have officially became the least favourite team among officials. Since the Dennis Wideman incident, the Flames had gone from one of the fewest penalized teams to one of the most. As well as the fact that they drafted Matthew Tkachuk, who is already on the the bad book among the refs. It will be fun to watch the refs screw them over for the next decade PS: Tkachuk is cheapshot artist, take Juolevi over him any day!

There are players who take (took) suspensions in order to put fear into their opponents. Tkatchuk puts fear into no one. He's a punk, who hurts his team with his selfish, cowardly antics. HI5
Im guessing he only gets suspended cause he has a history. 5min for spear was sufficient for the love tap.

I remember when he was drafted, he said something along the lines of "he was interviewed by every team, except the Canucks". Benning saw him coming from a mile away and I'm thankful he did. Can't stand that guy.
Jam126
He should be suspended for 3 games. The guy knew what he was doing and it happened.

You're right on both points. Last suspension was back in March for 2 games. He also served a 2 gamer a year before while playing with London. Where's Wellwood
I thought he had a hearing? Doesn't that mean at least.5.games? Or did he have a phone hearing?

If the "spear" was just the tap at the end, and not something the camera missed, I don't know if he deserved 5 mins for that. But, getting suspended for hitting a guy off the ice I am fully behind. At least the puke got suspended... you never know with the dopes, err DOPS. This whole brawl was instigated by him. No love tap, and Witkowski makes his way to the dressing room peacefully. That's why he deserves a suspension. Too bad Witkowski wasn't able to get at him. Would have been nice to see the kid pounded hard. He also did a good job of hiding behind people during the whole event once it got interesting. Rather brave of him that the most effort he put in was trying to pull off Howard's mask. I like how Calgary Puck is up in arms about this (aside from a few wiser people), especially trying to compare this to what Mantha did. At least when Mantha's fight started, they were on the ice, and Hamonic was well engaged before falling through the gateway. Pretty weak of Mantha to keep pummeling a guy when he is down, but to try to make it an off-ice fight is laughable.

A phone hearing is 5 games max and an in-person hearing is 5+.

It's more or less the timing not whether or not it was vicious, you can't jab at a guy from behind when he's being escorted out by an official. No matter how soft the tap was it was incredibly stupid on Tkachuk's part. Let it go and finish the game...
King Heffy
Pretty glad we didn't draft him now. Maybe Benning was able to identify the character issues before the draft?
canuck73_3
The best part reading Calgarypuck is them losing it over Tkachuk getting suspended and Mantha not. How is it Mantha's fault no one on the bench closed the gate? I guarantee you no player in the NHL that is engaged in a fight is monotoring the status of the bench gate being open or not.
