Warhippy
Hmmm. Not familiar enough with him in the Habs system this year to comment on if this is a good ro bad deal but for a 4th line center who do the Habs have to fill in now he's gone and does this signal the start of the rebuild? JM_
good depth faceoff guy for LA. Not sure what Montreal is doing tho... making room?
hatedkid666
Im guess LA came to the habs with the deal and they figured he was expendable. I dont think this i making room or starting a rebuild. but whatdoiknow

Mitchell has only appeared in 11 games this year. They have Plekanec, Daneault, Byron, Drouin and Galchenyuk that have all been playing centre at one time or another this year. -AJ-
Mitchell has 0 points in 11 games this year, but has traditionally been a 15-20 point guy. He's gotten better on faceoffs in the last couple of years.
qwijibo
If LA makes the playoffs the pick becomes Montreal's own 2018 4th that they sent to LA for Dwight King last trade deadline
Ghostsof1915
Let the rebuild in Montreal begin!
Sygvard
Yeah I don't think we can read into this one too much either way. As tempting as it is to try to be diagnosis with it. Kings offered Montreal their own pick back for a 0 point 32 year old who has been swapping in and out of the 13 forward slot. Fine hockey business choice to take what is offered and make room for a younger 4th liner to play a few more games.
DeNiro
Montreal is freeing up a contract plain and simple.
VIC_CITY
Seems like an overpayment. Torrey Mitchell is waiver material and LA is basically giving up a 4th for him. Might not seem like a lot but a 4th round pick isn't insignificant.

You can only have a maximum of 50 contracts. This frees up a contract slot. It's not about freeing up money. It's about freeing up a contract, as DeNiro has said.
