Younger and a better player in a more impactful position and patches is a streaky player who hasn't done much in the playoff.. Would be ridiculous to do this for Edmonton yeah, and that's the problem with this 'rumour' - that this is what Edmonton is alleged to have offered Montreal lol. in other words, if it were true, Bergevin should/would be fired by now for not jumping all over that. And Chiarelli would/should be fired if he made that offer. But I don't agree with your take on the Habs down the middle even if they made this deal. Reason being - Drouin isn't really an NHL center imo. He's a winger, that should be converted back to one. Or pehaps rather - he's a 'center' when the puck is on his stick, otherwise he's exceedingly weak. He gets spoon fed easy five on five minutes, has weak underlying numbers nevertheless, his production is seriously buoyed by the powerplay - he doesn't have the grit to handle the position down low in his own zone (nor the defensive game) - and he's an utterly horrible faceoff guy (40.8% - and that's with very high offensive zone starts, where it's easier to win draws). Danault, Plekanec and Shaw are their true centers - while neither Galchenyuk nor Drouin appear able to cut it there. What Drouin really is - a powerplay specialist - and a finesse winger 5 on 5 who isn't a very good possession player, nor does he produce to his pay scale 5 on 5. A really bad deal for Montreal - who arguably still need a center..... But don't have a more realistic trade chip (like Sergachev) to move if they're looking for a young, proven one... I think they're going to have to target more realistic options.
Freeridebc
Why I could see this being a true offer.... Pac. 4 years scoring 30 plus goals. Leadership. Some cap relief. Play off experience. Poehling, first round pick. 6'3. Some upside there. And a first round pick in one of the deeper drafts we are told...

Really curious to see how this rumour shakes down
Rush17
if edmonton wanted patches id be asking for pulvi + a 1st and + another solid asset. draistil would of been interesting but his cap hit without mcdavids help would scare me. im sure he can produce fine without him but having mcdavid as an optional linemate to spark him makes me wonder how he would do in mtl. i wouldnt want to move patches + a lot more for captain draststil. i could be dead wrong but id have reservations. im curious if we might see another nyi edm deal where tavares is shipped to edm for draistil and pulvi or an other asset. that would be a block buster if ive ever seen 1. Tortorella's Rant
On 12/6/2017 at 3:06 PM, Hutton Wink said: "Fire me? Watch me burn this mother down!" - Chiarelli There's no consider, Bergevin takes that laughing and runs for the hills, thanking Chia for rescuing his job. And Edmonton succeeds in yet another tank to draft Dahlin.
