captaincowbasher Posted December 8, 2017 Share Posted December 8, 2017 We all remember how interested J.B. was in drafting Sam Reinhart; there is no better time than now to swing a major deal with Buffalo, they have the forward depth and desperately need a top 2 defender. With Horvat going down for 4-6 weeks we need to fill that center hole. Reinhart could be that perfect fit with Boesser, and most certainly a true upgrade in our young core. As much as I would like Reinhart, our right side would be so thin...with Gudbransson as our #1 RHD, Stetcher and probably a LHD playing the right side. I don't think that a trade that would go down during the season. Buffalo are way out of it and you don't trade a blue chip like Reinhart (despite his struggles) for Tanev and expecting to turn your season around. Fanuck Posted December 8, 2017 Share Posted December 8, 2017 We'd have to add dearly to any Tanev/Rhino deal - so much so that I doubt it makes sense for us. Tanev, whilst a shut-down/shot suppression machine, isn't going to help Buffalo in any way-shape-form as their franchise is a mess and likely will be a mess for a while. Tanev will be 28yo in a couple weeks and will be out of this league by the time Rhino is just entering his prime - that kind of disparity will cost us a prime prospect/ high pick and/or a promising young roster player - this goes against JB's mantra of 'building through the draft'.
