PuckYa
On 12/20/2017 at 11:25 AM, TheGuardian_ said: Horvat is like Trottier, maybe not quite that good yet, Linden at Horvat's age was more dynamic and physical. Boeser is definitely like Bossy, both were sharpshooters right out of the blocks, Bure was beyond either, when he got on the ice fans stood up, Bure was electric and a lot of times didn't need the rest of the team. A different dynamic. Boeser's nose for the goals is almost uncanny and I could see him scoring 50+ goals, I was thinking a little of Laine as well, both have incredible accuracy and shots, but there is a little bit, not very much, of an edge that goes to Laine....so far. I'd say edge goes to Boeser. Laine also surrounded by some of the leagues top players. Playing with Wheeler as your line mate is a little different than Gagne. http://www.thehockeynews.com/news/article/boeser-shooting-the-lights-out-in-what-could-be-one-of-nhl-s-all-time-great-rookie-seasons Boeser’s numbers also stack up if you include his stint at the tail end of last season. From the start of his career to the end of Tuesday’s outing, Boeser has played 41 games and registered 22 goals. At the same mark in their respective careers, Laine had 21 tallies. Matthews, too, had scores 21 times. Ovechkin, on the other hand, comparatively pulled away by scoring his 26th goal in his 41st game. Sidney Crosby, for those wondering, scored 13 times in 32 games, 21 times in 41 games and finished his rookie campaign with 39 goals. But the most notable thing isn’t where Boeser presently sits in comparison to Matthews, Laine, Ovechkin and Crosby — the four top rookie goal-scorers in the post-lockout NHL — but where the Canucks freshman’s goal-scoring could put him when the season is complete. At his current pace of 0.56 goals per game, Boeser is staring down a potential 44-goal campaign. Only nine other rookies in NHL history have scored 44 or more goals, a list which includes Luc Robitaille, Dale Hawerchuk, Mike Bossy, Teemu Selanne and, yes, Ovechkin. Surpassing the 40-goal plateau, even if by one goal, would make Boeser only the fourth rookie in the past quarter-century to score more than 40 goals. Incisive
Horvat shows that he can really lead a team. That's why in the recent years, we have always thought about giving him the captaincy after Henrik retires. Horvat can do both. He's great offensively, and great defensively. He shines every game, and that's exactly what we want from a young player like Bo. Now Boeser, he's on a whole different level. This guy has proven in his first legitimate season, that he can do all. I haven't really seen him do as much defensive plays, mainly because whenever he has the puck, it's always gonna be in the opposing team's zone xD. I don't really want to use this statistic as a way to say my final answer, but Horvat only got 25 points, in 68 games in his first ever season as a professional, whilst for Boeser, the dude has 38 points in 36 games. If you want to include his first season, he did amazing as well, 5 points in 9 games with those 5 being 4 goals (great ones too) Overall, it's honestly hard to choose between the two. Like one said above, Horvat is a great two way forward, and Boeser is the better offensive forward, having less experience than Horvat. Both benefit the organization with the way they play. I can't choose, maybe someone else can, but for me, this is a tie. Great topic to talk about!
