With 43 games remaining, how should Travis Green turn the ship around?

According to Wikipedia, Travis Green won the $345,000 in poker tournaments, including events at the World Series of Poker. He had some strategies and won the tournament.

Winning the poker tournament is different from winning the hockey games. There are only 43 games remaining.

TG is missing so many pieces. (Goaltending, PK specialists, No. 1 centre. .. )

This season, Brock Boeser has been playing so well for the team. But we can't always reply on him.

JB better makes some moves to help out Travis Green.

I am afraid that the Canucks is going to be at the bottom of the in the league by the end of this season.

First thing to do is invest in a huge supply of bubble wrap and cotton wool.

The team is performing as well as expected but the injuries have buried the team and thats just the way it goes. You cant control that. Anyone expecting playoffs this year were setting themselves up for heartache. There isnt enough depth yet. It wont be long but its not there currently.

Be patient its building!

I cant recall being this excited about whats brewing with the Canucks

I don't really want the ship to turn around.

Another solid draft pick or two can legitimately be the difference between winning or losing in a tight playoff series or the final. Imagine if we had Luc in 2010 or another top9 forward.

the more depth the better off we will be.Honestly, I am sick of having a good team who is considered a contender by some. I want a deep squad that is a contender. That won't happen quickly but every time we lose we give Boeser, and all the young players a time to learn. Also, I bet Green is learning a lot at the time moment that will be very important in a few years.

don't be quick to leave the tough period.

Get healthy, stay healthy. I think we could put ourselves in the running for a playoff spot if we can stay healthy. We are down one of our top 2 d-men and 2 of our 3 first liners. Not easy to overcome missing 3 of our best players. Our goaltending will need to step up in a big way to get into playoff contention too. They have great games, but they also have terrible games. Would rather they just have a bunch good games consistently. For the most part nothing really needs to be done. Just let it play out. The only real adjustment that needs to be made is Edler not being on the PP. Or at least someone should tell him he should maybe consider passing to our most efficient scorer more often. Maybe.

Green should emphasize SPEED and a HEAVY north south game.

Reward players with minutes that play this way.

SHOOT. THE. PUCK.

Quit the fancy thru 19 legs against the flow of play passing.

Don't be afraid to bench anyone that floats.

Put Stecher on the #1 PP.  Yes.  Stecher.  Brock needs a rightie feeding him.

This ship will continue to sail along it's route for another few years before reaching the shores. We are still in middle of rebuild. We have some promising prospects but not all will make it. Some won't make the NHL and some who we think will be stars might end up being 3rd or 4th liners.

We need luck at the draft and continue to accumulate more top end prospects.

5 years to go before we are a legit contender.

LOL...I actually thought the OP was joking or being sarcastic....or is on Grade 6?

Pssstttt.....they don't want the ship to turn around at this point.  No one does. Management doesn't, Travis doesn't (don't worry, he is here for a long time), even the players who are here long-term don't. They will never admit it, but they don't.  Will they play hard? Of course, they are pros...but this team isn't making the playoffs and that's ok.

In fact, it's awesome.  I've been a fan of this team for 40 years and am more excited with this prospect pool then ever...and we need to add to it cause this team wlil do some serious damage in the league in the next 3 to 4 years.  This year's draft is VERY important to that, winning games right now IS NOT.  Finishing 20th as opposed to 29th in the league this year does nothing positive for the Nucks.  And yes, the players will be fine, they are adults, they won't develop a "losing mentality"...ridiculous, give them some credit.

Imagine adding a Brady Tkachuk to this roster of young kids with Gadjovich to toughen up the team with all the other elite young prospects like Elias etc.  Things are shaping up incredibly well for the near future, but this short-term thinking has to go...it's just an emotional response because "winning" feels good now, but trust me, in 3 years from now you will be glad this is happening this year.

This is the best time to be a fan of this team since 2011...so excited for the future, and this year's draft.

Thank you for your sensibility...it's refreshing.

"We"? I kinda do, therefore 1 half of you and I does want playoffs. Unless getting there means Benning moves our young guys (Gaudette, Dahlen, Demko etc) for veteran players. If we make it chances are it's cause guys like Boeser, Baer, Bo, Jake, Stecher, Hutton played a big role in getting us there. Also if Boeser is any indicator it's you can find elite (potentially elite for Boeser) talent anywhere in the first round. Barzal was drafted around 16 was he not? Does not hurt if our relatively young roster plays well enough to make the playoffs. Cause right now this roster isn't being carried by vets. It's being carried by our young guys. Bo, Baer, and Boeser were our 3 top scorers prior to 2 of them being injured. This isn't the same as the year we made the playoffs and got trounced by Calgary, but we did get Boeser because of that playoff push if I am not mistaken. Other than the obvious 2 I don't think I'd take any of the players in the top 10 over Boeser.

With that said I am perfectly fine with us missing the playoffs too. We are in a position where playoffs is nice but not making it is also pretty okay. Our prospect pool is looking really good and adding Wahlstrom, or Svechnikov, or Boqvist would be great (I don't believe in our luck to get 1st overall). Personally I am more in favour of us missing the playoffs and getting a top 5 pick but I won't cry if I am still watching Canuck hockey in April.

Could have done with an extra quality forward, but

$$$$ you gotta pay team as well....

Seriously though, let's be honest, there is no turning this ship around, especially not with the constant injuries; one player comes back, two more go down after that. There is simply too much dead weight in terms of ineffective players with big contracts getting ice time because of those big contracts and not because they deserve it. Add to that, we're tied for second last in the west and would have to reel in 6 teams in front of us to just claim the final wild card. Nah, if it were up to me I'd say just let the team continue on the course they're on. Maybe we could have a nice trade deadline and hopefully a lucky draft.
