Not many top college ufas will choose a bottom feeder with their first choice.

Since benning took over just how many top ufa college players have signed with Vancouver, my count is one stetcher

im not counting the farm hands that get passed over as call ups in favour of Chaput and megna.

Nucks should have interest in any one that’ll listen but I can’t see any player or their agents saying vancouver should be the  first choice.that doesn’t even get into who is under contract next year on d and the favorite sales pitch “we will make room” has been used to many times nobody’s buying it anymore.

Edmonton has had their fair share of college UFA signings. They've been a bottom feeder and a dump of a town forever.

I would bring up Colorado in that conversation.

They were dead last in 2017 with 48 points.

This year they have 55 points already and there's almost half a season left.

Not much has changed except McKinnn has emerged as a legit star, and Ratenen has put up 1st line numbers in his first year. Adding Alex Kerfoot (NCAA FA) didn't hurt either as he's got 30 pts in 42 games (we were in on that deal too)

Boom, from last place to the playoffs in a year.

You could argue that with a few crude deals at the deadline and/or 1 or 2 of our incoming prospects making similar impact - we could end up in the same sitch next year.

so if both are un-drafted can we sign them whenever their seasons end or do we have to wait until August like the others? Not clear on the NCAA rules.

Hey like I said if they’ll listen Nucks should be calling and yeah sometimes the planets align and for whatever reason personal or professional a good ncaa player chooses a team at or near the bottom, Boeser night pay more dividends than just being great on the ice he might be a player that will bring others in. But I just don’t see the state of this club as attractive,

talk of the sedins resigning, the d core all vets signed through next season. Then you have gagme louie holding spots. So where’s  the opportunity again and to play with who aside from Horvat and boeser.

And That could all change in the next three weeks and I sure hope it does.

I do Hope we land one of the top guys so we can move on but .......

Unproductive veteran players being graced spots won't really entice young guys looking to play.

Most bottom feeding teams will typically have more ice time available. The Canucks maybe not so much but ice time is the most desirable factor for a college FA over a winning team I would think.

Exactly. I do believe it scares them back to Russia......

Burmistrov was a coaster. He didn't earn the spot at all.

Tryamkin's exit was the product of a coach that didn't know how to properly hand out ice time. Oh, and a coach that liked to call out players to the media. His comments about Tryamkin not neutralizing Marchand were so stupid, it was embarrassing to read.

Total agree, coach played vets that were ineffective game in and game out over up and comer that was more effective in his limited role. Preach earn it then gift it.

Brumstrov was a Non factor. Agents and players look at all this stuff when picking whats true and what gives them the best chance.

holm is another one signed as a ufa had other suitors had to be a selling point  that we had an opportunity here. That was in May by the end of the summer the opportunity was already gone.signing  Mdz wierdcoat and a trade for pouliot made sure of it.

Doesn’t exaclty spread confindence and trust to potential ufas.

College players are pretty much a crap shoot. I got no problem acquiring such, but I gotta believe that we'll get lucky. I mean like Wings lucky with Datsyuk lucky!

College players tend to be undersized late bloomers but in recent years they get first rate coaching and LOTS of practice time because they only play on weekends.

Fertile ground imo

Scouting report on the Bro?  Powerplay specialist?  Two-way guy?

Regardless, I'd be down for mobile, physical right-handed D-men.  Maybe we can slot him into the lineup after Guddy goes.

Nothing wrong with free money, especially some with a name that would make Don Taylor proud #AllNameTeam.
