I think we wait and decide about the trade deadline...............

Then if it is unclear, wait until Draft day, and see who we get

Then think about it some more until July 1st

If we sign Tavares then no we don't sign them

If we don't, invite them to training camp

Evaluate the talent that is in camp

If the talent is good enough to honestly play in the NHL, then no

If the talent is has still no matured, then sign them

Pretty simple actually!

In saying all that, they have only scored 16 goals between the 2 of them......not a lot of offense really!

Also being -12 and -13 what does that leave for the plus?

Does everybody know why Benning needs to know what the Sedin's plans are?

No, it doesn't affect the long term plan a bit.

If they retire, Benning has to replace them because no young players are ready to take their places.

If they stay, then Benning can feel free to move Vanek.

Keep them until we have young guys that can step in and replace 40-50 points.

What makes you think we don't have or cannot acquire such players for a lot cheaper? Also, what makes you think they are going to continue to produce? They have been seriously declining the last couple of years and I cannot see it getting any better.

No it's taking it's toll sheltering their minutes. It's a game within the game to get their O zone starts.

Who's covering for them. Which stifles creativity a lot like the trap, but different.

They have added "stay away from McDavid's line" and "NO 3 ON 3 !" this year so its getting harder and harder every year.

Let them sign their last contract to determine the end of their career, dont let the current contract dictate their future. These guys are HoF candidates, still putting up decent points and provide great leadership and role models for the next wave. Dont rush the guys coming up and throwing them in like Deadmonton and Colorado have in the past.

Another year to groom the future will be beneficial to the longterm success of this team.

Classy guys deserve a classy end to their career.

Forcing them to retire would be an insult to the two best players to wear the green and blue who still have some hockey left in them.

First of all you dont just replace the Sedins production (48-58 points) by dipping into free agency and if they did its almost guaranteed we will be over paying. Dont believe me go look at joe Thornton, 50 points last season got him 8mill. Marleau's 46points got him 6.25mill a year. Sedins have stated money is not an issue so if get them at 4.75 to 5.25 range its a steal.

Thr on pace to have better production thn last season so why is thr any reason to think thr production will take a serious nosedive next season???

Why is it when guys like you come forward you always have the same lines as bolded above but NEVER state the obvious:

They will be 38-39 years old next year.

Their offensive numbers are on a steady decline(not getting better)

Their defense is atrocious and it is making harder and harder for the coach to shelter their minutes.

Their passing and shooting strength is seriously noticeable.

There is 2 of them that MUST play on the same line

The cap space saved by not signing them could make a big impact for this team moving forward.

They deserve the 17 great seasons they had here but it is time to move on now.

The season is not over yet and we are not going for the cup next year so are we really going to miss their point production? With their plus/minus numbers I am sure we can replace them with players with more defensive abilities and a little less offensive abilities and still come out on top.

Oh and by the way, Thornton and Marleau are stronger and faster and can play defense. :P

Crazy how even the poll is right now. If they don't want to be moved so be it and we ride em out until the end of year and look at extensions after the deadline.

Personally, if we can somehow sign Tavares/ Kane/ a young good dman I would rather we not sign the Sedins. Also if Pettersson is not ready, I'd rather he stay in Sweden/ AHL and get experience and time there.

All depends on our off season. Personally, at 1 year contracts with at about 3 million, maybe with a performance bonus

Go take a look at 2018 free agents...good luck finding anyone that can put up 48-58 points and signing them cheap.

there is no simple yes or no

it all depends on how the rest of this season plays out and who is ready to step up and play

would not want to see  the same situation that hampers Edmonton - not enough veteran presence  to lead the youth

Is there anyone that can put up the same points as the Sedins  coming up in free agents?

And price of contract has to factor in as well
