      Forum-specific Rules   07/11/2017

These are board specific rules for the Trades and Rumors forum designed to provide organization and a better experience for everyone. Please review these rules before posting new threads.
THREAD ETIQUETTE   1. Please search for an existing thread before posting. This forum can be very fast moving, so it's understandable if redundant threads are inadvertently posted. In such a case, please use the report feature to request removal of redundant threads.    2. Provide a clearly identifiable topic title so that users can readily understand the content. The title should include any and all teams involved, as well as player names or other personnel involved as appropriate.   3. All trades, signings, rumors and other news MUST include a linkable source. Simply posting the name of the source is not enough. Effort should also be made to copy and paste the full article, or at the very least the relevant portion of text from the source to the first post of the thread. Moderators may remove low-quality threads in favour of high-quality threads.

Affixed to the front of your title should be a label that identifies the type of transaction that is taking place. For all trades use [TRADE]. For all signings use [SIGNING]. For all waiver-wire transactions use [WAIVERS]. For all rumours use [RUMOUR].
For articles or news items that don't fit into the above categories, affix an appropriate label of your choice such as [NEWS], [ARTICLE] or [MISC].   4. When the status of a thread changes a new thread can be created. The new thread should reflect the change and help focus the discussion on current events. e.g. Someone may create a new thread when a rumor becomes a trades. The old thread will be locked by the moderating team.    5. Do not misrepresent the contents of your thread or post false trades or rumors. Trolling will result in a permanent suspension.

SOURCES   The following source types are considered INVALID. Any links to posts or threads on other message boards Any links to personal blogs Any news heard on the radio that does not have a link to an audio vault or podcast Any news seen on television that does not have a link to online video Any news spread by word of mouth
Additionally, certain sources may be be blacklisted due to poor credentials, clear traffic-mongering etc. Blacklisted sources will be posted here.
Thank you for your co-operation and please PM the Administrator or Moderators if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions regarding this forum.

[Signing] Canucks re-sign Erik Gudbranson

Agree to disagree.

The team did sustain quite a few injuries during the Boston series. From Hamhuis' ill advised hip check of a far larger Lucic, to Bieksa getting a two handed slash to the calves from Ference, to Raymond getting potentially paralyzed by Boychuk, plenty of injuries occurred during that series.

Sure Vancouver had the size to match and outmuscle Chicago, they lacked the size to match Nashville's blueline at the time, but Kesler went into another gear, and that didn't matter so much.

As well, the powerplay was instrumental in beating San Jose.

Boston went for the jugular and were given free reign to do so throughout that series. Seeing as how they boasted Chara (6'9" 260) McQuaid (6'5" 210) Lucic (6'4" 230) Boychuk (6'2" 220) Thornton (6'2" 220), all of whom were extremely physical players who insulated talented players like Bergeron, and talented scum like Marchand, Vancouver didn't have a physical deterrent to match Boston when this occurred.

Or that Boychuk didn't receive one for what he did to Raymond. Or that Ference and Marchand weren't given a minor penalty for their transgressions.

Sigh. Still have a tough time with it all. I want to want punch a wall when I think about it

This sucks, was hopeful that Gudbranson was making the strides to make this contract worth it but his durability issues have resurfaced.

#CanucksNHL_2017_2018_Canucks.png announce that Erik Gudbranson was removed from the active roster today to undergo upcoming shoulder surgery.

That's unreal.

A separated shoulder - and he was bloody outstanding.  He was a force in those Coyotes and Kings games.

What a messed up run of seasons this team has had.

Oh well - at least it was in transition and enhances the draft position as a s.lining.

Best of luck to Gudbranson - hope he's back in preseason in the form he's been in lately.

The fact that Gudbranson played through that injury says a huge amount about his pain threshold. As well, choosing to ensure that he's 100% for next season is the right decision. Having a fully healthy and healed Gudbranson will be a really bad thing for other teams.

Good luck, Erik.

Lousy info gents. Wonder if they can turn this to an advantage at yr's start? Say by holding back EG the first 3, 4 wks, it might give an extra D(or two) some audition time to fight it out? Find LTIR a little uncertain, as the initial 23 players are named(likely won't be at the cap, either). Any insights on this?

Can see us signing some depth FA D-men again, this summer...

I'd say give Juolevi, McEneny, Chatfield or Brisebois a shot. Or being hopeful, Dahlin.

I'm for giving any player who's offence contributes enough to cover for their defensive deficiencies a spot.

Especially D. We so lack offence from the D.

So true.  We need D who can contribute offence at a rate that covers for their defensive mistakes.  All players make mistakes, so having ones who contribute more offence than their mistakes cause goals against, should make for a winning team - providing the goal-tending is decent, right?
