Non-divisional games: 2 games per team x vs 28 teams = 56 games Divisional games 8 games per team x vs 3 teams = 24 games Total: 80 games 4 away games within the divisions and Canucks can get back to their own bed by midnight after a short trip with 12 such opportunities for a whole year (Seattle, Calgary, and Edmonton) rather than 3 to 5 times a year, goes a long way of prolong our own players' career.
