This series couldn't be tighter, and while we feel we have a slight advantage this coming evening, nothing is guaranteed. It will be a tough series that likely comes down to the final night!

Notables for tonight's matchup from the Vancouver Canucks:

Mats Zuccarello has managed points in each of two outings so far in the opening series, averaging 2.5 pts per game, he is slightly ahead of the curve

Dallas' Janmark is the only other forward with points already notching 2 pts from 4 plms in the first game of the series.

On the Blueline it is remarkable that Morgan Rielly has been held off the scoresheet and the Yotes surely are expecting to have to continue to try to contain him from the back end.

Slavin is the only defender Vancouver has with points already, and while there are two back up tendies on the docket tonight, it is not likely we see them gather points, let alone action in the series.

This all bodes well for an expectant Arizona Coyotes squad who have been searching for a way to solve the Vancouver Canucks.

THree of four defenders in action tonight for Arizona have some level of points, but far below the curve and there are no tendies in action at all this evening.

That leaves MacKinnon, Staal, Ferland and Derek Ryan as the Coyotes principle weapons tonight, and all four have struck points so far.

Primal Optimist is looking for a statement game today as we transition into the midway of the series. "It is a tight tough professional hockey playoff round 1, if it was easy, everyone would do it. Of course there were some hiccups in the first couple games as Jordan and Nathan had to really fight to get going but this is where I expected us to be at this point. Neck and Neck, the only disturbing bit is that we are just a little bit short right now. The boys will be aiming to right that wrong at 4 oclock. This is where we need a statement game to let Jaku know who wants the next round, and a piece of the Sharks, more!"

Coulda, shoulda, woulda...

The following players were available out of Minnesota at the deadline, but we didn't get a suitable offer for them. They could have made the difference for you playoff teams:

  • Leo Komarov - 1 goal, 1 assist, 4 PIMs, +1
  • Austin Watson - 1 assist, 4 PIMs

As for the players who we did move, one GM in particular is benefitting greatly:

  • Ian Cole - 3 assists, 6 PIMs, +5

By the Time I got to Arizona....

Glancing at tonight's Desert Ice matchup leaves me feeling we turned a corner last night. Four key Canucks players have finished their opening round appearances as of last night; Panarin and Jenner among them. With 26 points between them, 29 points including the penguins players Johnson and Aston-Reese....now shelved before they can raise those numbers any higher, we are in a good place to carry on. Attrition in the Yotes camp is just the one player: Dumoulin, who only put up 4 points all series, which is fortunate i guess in that he wasn't doing any heavy lifting for us anyhows up until his exit.

It isn't a slam dunk yet, but we turned the corner in weathering last nights storm. Tonight we feature MacKinnon and Johnson with Brodie and Muzzin and a slew of support against just 3 point earners from the Vancouver side. Perhaps this is where Jaku is most dangerous. 'Yotes, Let's show em whatcha got!
