canucklehead80 Posted April 2, 2018 Share Posted April 2, 2018 Would prefer we stayed away from Bozak. Having said that, I can see management wanting to bring in a vet with the twins retiring. I’d prefer they didn’t, but as long as they were to only bring in one instead of two to replace both Sedins, I could live with it. A good target at the right price and term imo. Fits the bill of a hard-working, two way player that could be a solid complement to the young guys he'd likely be playing with. With Laine up for an extension as soon as this summer plus all the talent the Jets have, I think signing him isn't realistic. I would love to see him here over Bozak seems as though (NHL numbers) they have $6.5 million of cap space, with Enstrom and Matthias expiring (another 7.9 million) - so who knows. They do have a number of RFAs though beyond Laine - Trouba, Morrisey, Hellebuyck, Lowry. The price they paid for him might suggest they had longer term intentions though. He's not good enough to take Bo or Sutter's spot and would rather leave the other C spot to Peterson or Gaudette. But I think he probably gets closer to 9 mill per year and I don’t think Jim will go that high. As for Bozak, I imagine he would want 4-5 years. If Canucks can overpay him on a shorter term contract, say 1-2 years at 5 mill per, then I’d go for it. But any longer and I think Jim should pass.
