If they could convince Tavares to join the team and slot him on that second line tho... just seeing the chemistry and upside alone might be enough to convince him to stay?

John Tavares has declined an invitation to play for Team Canada at the 2018 IIHF World Championships because he does not want to risk injury without a NHL contract in place.

With the NHL not partaking in the 2018 Olympics, I wonder if more players will want to play in the World Hockey Championship?

Also, is it just me or is Group B was tougher than A?

It would be good to see Lou go!

He did not play a full year of hockey, was playing well at the end of the year.  It would be good for him IMO. I also would like to see him show some team Canada loyalty & support!

Drouin has not been asked.  Jeff Petry has been asked to play for team USA but declined.

Sabre players:  O'Reilly and Mittelstadt will be going.

Any word on Pettersson potentially being invited?  Heard online Stecher was a consideration? Marky also confirmed he might be an option.
