Not sure how the weights were achieved, I found it difficult to find them this year but Vancouver has 20 players under 200lbs and Vegas 13, Vegas has 9 players listed under 6'.

Your chart does show that the lighter teams excel in the east while most of the lighter teams are not in the playoffs.

Not my chart.  From Dobber.

Bo seems to be improving the most in the offseason, and he will hopefully continue that.At some point they have to decide if he gets a stacked line or is a 2C.Reminds me of the  Linden years.Virtanen needs to keep elevating.Judging by the numbers and prospect status i dont see a future here for Baertchi. If EG,AE and CT stay it doesnt leave the door open much for defensive prospects to develop as the team starts to take shape.Id like to see the Canucks try and dump some older guys to aquire as many picks as they can for next years draft.

A+ - Boeser

A - Horvat, D. Sedin, Edler

B - Sutter, Vanek, Leipsic, Jokinen, Dorsett

C+ - Gagner, Baertschi, Virtanen, Tanev, Goldobin, Gaudette, Biega, Sautner

C - Archibald, Del Zotto, Markstrom, Motte, Gudbranson, Stecher, Pouliot

D - Granlund, Gaunce, Eriksson, Dowd, Boucher

F - Rodin, Burmistrov, Hutton, Nilsson

This is the most honest evaluation so far.

I don't think Daniel or Edler are "A" players but I would give them a "B"

I can't see Dorsett with a "B" when he missed 3/4 of the season while Tanev is more important to team wins but rates lower probably because of games missed.

Vanek? was a huge minus but provided goals in games lost.

No Hank.

Do you really think your "D" and :F: players played enough to warrent the Caunucks finishing 6th to last?

I think it's a very generous evaluation for a team that finished almost last in the league

What would your ratings be for the last place teams that made the playoffs?

Considering the ONLY ones with failed grades hardly played

We should have at least made the playoffs with  everyone else getting a passing grade don't you think?

My list may closer to this

A - Boeser

B - Horvat,

B- - D. Sedin, Edler

C+ - , Vanek, Leipsic, Jokinen, Dorsett, Tanev, H. Sedin

C - Sutter  Baertschi, Virtanen,Goldobin, Gaudette, Biega, Sautner

C- - Archibald, Del Zotto, Markstrom, Motte, Gudbranson, Stecher, Pouliot, Gagner,Granlund,Eriksson

D -  Gaunce, Dowd, Boucher

F - Rodin, Burmistrov, Hutton, Nilsson

I guess it would change if you are comparing these players to other teams same line players, as opposed to just what your expectations of these players were for the year

I based mine on which players helped make the team better or stood out over the year (some were a very small sample size though)

not true

brock played 9 games the previous season

was penciled in for utica by management but survived training camp and pre-season

he was kept, but his season start was delayed by 2 games by coach green

once he was in the line up he flourished and could not be removed (except by injury)

he improve dramatically in the off season .. more then management predicted or expected

brock in fact made the players who played with him better

only vanek, in shorter but bright flashes, can boast he made players around him better

bo did well. but not quite as well in the "improved players around him" category

there is no doubt bo is in a consistent up tick in terms of his year to year improvement

and in fact improved his game within the season when he spent time on the injured list

came back stronger and fitter

he will elite or almost elite and a very steady all round player

but it does seem so far

that the sedin influence on the younger core players

about the amount of off season training that is required to realize all of your potential

is rubbing off on our most important youngsters

I am not going to sugar coat these grades, it was a rough year.  Grades are based off the whole year, durability counts:

  • Archibald: C-
  • Baertschi: C
  • Biega: C-
  • Boeser: B+
  • Boucher: F
  • Burmistrov: F
  • Del Zotto: C-
  • Dorsett: B+
  • Dowd: D
  • Edler: B-
  • Eriksson: D
  • Gagner: D
  • Gaunce: F
  • Goldobin: C
  • Granlund: F
  • Gudbranson: C-
  • Horvat: B+
  • Hutton: C-
  • Jokinen: C
  • Leipsic: C+
  • Markstrom: D+
  • Motte: C-
  • Nilsson: F
  • Pouliot: C
  • Daniel Sedin: B-
  • Henrik Sedin: C+
  • Stecher: C+
  • Sutter: C+
  • Tanev: B
  • Vanek: C+
  • Virtanen: C

No A's given.

Thank you for your honesty, this is probably the closest assessment of this teams performance this year.  Cannot see how either goalie would get a passing mark after some bad performances from Marky and Nilsson.

Brock played 9 games.I cant grade his development curve from the previous years 9 games.Next season we will see .Bo has a sample size and its trending upwards bigtime.

Archibald: C (Serviceable 4th liner and that's it)

Baertschi: C (tentative start, then good, then injured)

Biega: C+ (Serviceable 7th D, has big balls)

Boeser: A

Boucher: C (about what was expected)

Burmistrov: F outta here

Del Zotto: C (decent so C)

Dorsett: A (Will be missed)

Dowd: C- (stop-gap, no offense)

Edler: B+ (CDC whip but points, hits and blocks proved otherwise)

Eriksson: C- (Get healthy, keep up D work, add more offense)

Gagner: D+ (Bad for money/term)

Gaunce: C- (first round pick with 0 offense)

Goldobin: C+ (plus is for last 10 games of season)

Granlund: F (step back an understatement)

Gudbranson: C- (Decent defense, no offense, some physicality, now for $4mil)

Horvat: A (Good other than injury, give him the C)

Hutton: D- (WTF)

Jokinen: B (Solid, sign for 1 year)

Leipsic: B+ (couldn't crack Vegas to being one of our best)

Markstrom: C- (inconsistent but effort is there)

Motte: C (Nothing special but has rare flash)

Nilsson: F (Just terrible per 60 min)

Pouliot: C (turnovers haunt him but creative potential PMD we need)

Daniel Sedin: B+ (All the best)

Henrik Sedin: C (All the best)

Stecher: C (No step forward, no step back, has heart)

Sutter: C+ (Overwhelmingly high D zone starts/opposition top line deployment is rough on him. + For that alone)

Tanev: C- (Injuries, injuries, injuries)

Vanek: B+ (Was good on ice and good mentor for Boeser)

Virtanen: B (Good development over the 82 game season, can he keep it going?)

Use Jokinen and a resigned Vanek as the veteran leadership along with Edler, Sutter, Eriksson and maybe Guddy(?) next season. Do not, for the love of Sedin, sign Bozak in the off-season. Sutter 2.0 but softer and will have similar if not higher cap hit.

Archibald: B (Players play a little bigger when he is in the lineup)

Baertschi: C+

Biega: C Gives you all he has

Boeser: A+ Breakout year looks good every time he has the puck on his stick

Boucher: C- Utica

Burmistrov: F Bye

Del Zotto: C average at best

Dorsett: A+ Sad to see him retire. Can we find his twin brother

Dowd: D sorry not much love here

Edler: C No defensemen earns over a C this year . terrible Defensively and terrible Offensively

Eriksson: C again if his contract wasn't so ridiculous he'd be ok

Gagner: D Started to figure out how to play with the twins late. Maybe he gets more PP time next season depending on who is here

Gaunce: C Needs to take a big step next season or Utica it is

Goldobin: C+ (Looked better later in the season Playing on Horvat's wing) Maybe he just needs some better line-mates!

Granlund: F needs a new team and opportunity

Gudbranson: D+ Can he play over 50 games one year, please

Horvat: A Gets better every year.

Hutton: F (Looks confused, plays confused)needs a new opportunity 6 assists will not cut it as an O Defense man

Jokinen: C+(I wouldn't waster a roster spot though)

Leipsic: B+ Better than expected and may find more game next season

Markstrom: D+

Motte: C+ ( If you are realistic about what should be expected of him he has done fine) 4th line penalty kill guy

Nilsson: F (Failed miserably)

Pouliot: C-

Daniel Sedin: B

Henrik Sedin: C+

Stecher: C had an ok year but Needs to score or he really isn't of much value

Sutter: C+

Tanev: B+

Vanek: A

Virtanen: B- ( Jake is coming of age, his play with the puck is better. He just needs his head and hands to catch up with his feet.) That Speed!!!!!

The defense needs a major over haul. The scoring from that group is non-existant and the goals against speak for them selves.

Edler on the power play has ONE goal in the last year. The others are not contributing either.

Goal tending - The poor play of Nilsson should be enough to warrant Demko getting at least the back up job next season.

Next Season we may get to see a little more of what we have in the system.

1.Re tool the D

2 Draft a D in first round

3.look for one or two Gritty forwards in Free agency. But no more than 2

Almost everyone deserves failing grades, especially management.

Why didn't you say everyone fails. You know you wanted to. Besides, then you could really show off your hockey smarts
