That is very much like if you need a line of credit or a mortgage on a home they demand to know where every single dollar is coming from.  But foreign buyers can apply for those same loans in excess of a million dollars and not have to provide collateral or proof of income

Tell me about it.

I'm currently on critical care leave for my son, and will switch over to parental leave after that...... I tried opening a line of credit on a fully paid property, with EI and rental income, and they're avoiding me like I'm carrying the plague.

On the other hand, guys carrying bags of cash to casinos.

Or students and homemakers buying multimillion homes, no problem there.

The hub's here in Richmond but the councilors are developers or are donated heavily to by them.  Bill McNulty is the worst.   The last Richmond election was bought and paid for and there are blind eyes and deaf ears.  From farmland mansion air bnb's that slide through as 12,000 sq ft generational homes to the casino that won't hire people who don't speak Cantonese or Mandarin to the birthing houses and booze dens.  It's a joke here and ground zero in all of this.

Committed fraud in your home country? How about some tax evasion? Come to Canada where we will reward your criminal efforts with some top of the line luxury homes.

The BC Liberal party basically screwed this province for future generations in terms of cost of housing

Actually, I think it's oversimplification to say that one party or two raised the prices to the housing market to what it is.

Vancouver is the best place to live in Canada, weather wise and economically. If you've travelled anywhere else in Canada, there is not a whole lot going on. Alberta's lost its oil advantage; Manitoba and Saskatchewan are barren. Ontario's pretty broke, but their prices are very high as well. Quebec's trending upwards. And the Maritimes are pretty much empty, aside from the shipbuilding industry.

I'm definitely glossing over a lot of stuff when I say this, but having travelled other places of the world, anywhere that is comfortable to live in... the prices are generally high. A lot of the bad areas of California are cheap, but not for places like San Francisco, San Diego, etc. San Diego's surprisingly similar to Vancouver in terms of being unaffordable.

As bad as the ruling party is, it is categorically misleading to say that the party alone contributed to the housing crisis.

Sounds like too many politicians are slime.

Time to overthrow the government. They don't work for us anymore, and never really have. At least not in recent memory. They use fancy buzzwords like "freedom", and "education", and "tax breaks" for your vote, but they don't care about any of us whatsoever, and your standard of living continues to decline regularly as the price of everything else increases and they're largely responsible for all of this.

The RCMP must regret taking out the HA.

Now, it’s a free-for-all and no real boss. The streets were cleaner back then. Everything ran through the Angels. Now, pfff, all these pathetic bangers are all over the place. Petty crime, drugs and prostitutes are everywhere, in the public’s eye.

The devil you know...
