skolozsy2
Almost certainly Barzal. With Boeser, Keller, Connor, and McAvoy all doing well in their rookie campaign, it's hard not to like the look of the future for USA hockey.
komodo0921
Given the way, the season shook out with all the injuries, including his, it's no small feat that he got nominated. It's a testament to the impact he's had on his team, the Province of BC, and the league. He may not have won the trophy, but he's won the respect of a lot of people. He's served notice; The Flow has arrived. Congrats on the nomination. Well deserved.
cbdoubleu
It's funny to hear so many people say Barzal's point total is the result of the Islanders' scoring, and not the Islanders' scoring was a result of Barzal. Did they watch the games. The kid was unreal. The wheels, the vision, the hands. He could've had 60 assists playing with Steve Bernier and Jason Chimera. He had more points than Tavares. Just let that sink in.
xereau
Brock won't win, but a very strong case could be made for it. Barzal played on two lines with a bunch of veteran high scorers. Brock played on one line with a young center and a rotation of wingers. Barzal had a lot of secondary assists. Brock had a bunch of game winning goals. It won't happen but the better, more impact player is on the Canucks.
Rob_Zepp
There in the order of 600 players in the NHL on NHL contracts. There are a handful of awards and only three per award are voted into the finalist position. When one of your players gets that honour, it is a very big deal. Other than the Art Ross (and Jennings), these are voted on by those who should know hockey and it is VERY rare for a player to get this finalist consideration in a year they only played about 3/4 of the year. Even McDavid didn't win the Calder in his injury shortened rookie year.
