Primal Optimist Posted July 20, 2018 Share Posted July 20, 2018 I lost track of Matty Petty when he was in Europe for a few years, but the guy working the desk at the car rental place we like skates with him in the offseason pretty much every year, as they are childhood buddies...the car lot guy loves hockey but is 5 foot nothing and 150 pounds, and now north of 30 I think...lol...anyways..he never has a bad thing to say about Pettinger, a good kid with great skills but nothing stand outish at the highest level. Thousands of guys at his specific level of hockey..all hoping to get a call up. I loved seeing Matt on the ice here in Victoria in summer 2009 trying out for the ECHL Salmon Kings and then seeing him in the fall at the Moose camp for the AHL..and then later playing for the Canucks and doing well! It was his year, as far as callups go and having your 'shot'. Good for him. ANd then to go on playing pro in Germany, I think it was Germany...Very cool for a Victoria guy.
