bobby loocid dreamer
To Vancouver- Corey Perry, Brandon Montour, 2018 1st To Anaheim- Sam Gagner, 2018 3rd Why for Anaheim? Anaheim is in win now mode and Perry is looking like he is 67 years old out there. His contract (8.625 x 3) is killing them. They replace him with a speedier, cheaper option in Gagner who will likely score just as much as Perry. Losing Montour would be painful but they can use the 5 million dollars in savings to add to their defensive depth. Why for Vanvcouver- With the Sedins retirement, they have a couple spots to fill and can afford the cap hit. By helping out Anaheim, they get a later 1st and a middle pair defenseman. By the time Vancouver is trying to compete, Perry is off our payroll. Watching what Arizona did last year by using their cap space to take on dead money and getting futures in return is what inspired this proposal. But, we need Sam Gagner to attract Tavares this summer. Apparently they grew up close to each other and are REALLY good friends! ForsbergTheGreat
Perry put up 50 points last year. He may be overpriced but he can still play. Gagner put up 50 points twice in his 12 year career, he's not going to produce. Montour is a 23 year old right shot D that put up 32 points in his first full season (only edler put up more points for the canucks). Ducks are not going to give him up, especially after moving out vatanen earlier this year. Now way ducks add that much in order to move out perry. A team like the flames (who's desperate for a right wing) will likely have a much more enticing offer (which doesn't involve ducks adding so much if anything)
Fanuck
Surprise, surprise....yet another proposal that HEAVILY favors the Canucks even taking into consideration that terrible CP contract. Blue Jay 22
Anaheim is not trading Montour under any circumstance. End thread/

Rick Blight
Perry has a full NMC contract and Anaheim will be forced to protect him in the next expansion draft. Why would we do this and then we would have to protect Perry? I am all for us getting a bad contract PLUS draft picks but we cannot take on a bad contract that has a full NMC or we will regret this move when the expansion draft gets here. coastal.view
the cba is coming up for review.. extension... renewal. . or whatever before the seattle expansion am very very confident that nmc contracts will not have to be protected in the next expansion you can all almost bank on that they nmc contracts very key to many of the deal nhl teams were forced to make with vegas when they did their expansion draft there is not way the nhl will allow a repeat of that scenario

It's one those cliche phrases people like to throw in to make an unrealistic trade sound more plausible. <blank> team is in a win now mode, or <blank> team could be in cap trouble in a few years. Basically, they'll say anything to make a good player being traded for dogsh*t sound somewhat reasonable.
kloubek
If they are in win now mode, then getting Gagne while giving away a 50 point scorer AND a very good defenceman isn't getting them anywhere closer to the cup. Perry is no longer providing them with the return on that huge investment, but they would never go for this in a million years. I like the idea of capitalizing on other team's hardships, but this proposal is heavily in the Canucks favour. Like... hea-vi-ly.
