I would have traded for Hoffman. BTW, this trade sounds a lot like the wet dream package we Canuck fans always want to put together to upgrade our talent pool... ( Baertchi, Hutton, and a mid to late round pick)... This time it worked for San Jose...

Hanifin is still available for such type of package ;)

Looks like it.

Sharks get from Florida - 2019 second round pick, 2018 fourth round pick and 2018 5th round pick.

This came following the news that Evander Kane's GF, just hours after the Hoffman trade, started getting attacked on social media by several people known variably as "IamnotmikehoffmansGF" , "MHoffmanistheman" and "Wherethefoxissanjose".

Wilson did really well here. It really seems like he helped Tallon land Hoffman, and he was given a great return for it.

If JT is likely to stay in New York, these picks and cap space allow them to either potentially sign Carlsson, or maybe get in on Faulk. Maybe Wilson ends up trading for Faulk and Darling and flips Darling to Chicago. If Joe resigns they'll have 3 very good lines, and adding another top defender might be enough to see them go back to the finals.

They also stole st Louis trade Target lol.  Now they have assured Hoffman stays out east the blues have to go elsewhere. If the sharks want back to the cup. Limiting a strong team like the blues is smart. He was their desired guy

I really like the city of Ottawa, sucks that their team has become the laughingstock of the league.  Pennies on the dollar for them.  Hell SJS did better in trading him.  Great move by them, cleared an overpaid third liner, got draft pics and cap space.  Nice start to the post-season for them.

You can say that all you want but you know what? They've spoiled their fans by constantly being in the playoffs every year, scout and draft well, make bold moves, take risks that usually  bring medium to great success.

Basically....they are an organization as a whole that tries.

They've successfully cycled out their versions of Sedins(Thornton/Marleau) and now replaced them whereas we cant even say we did that

Plus they've owned us for how many years now.

Go ahead....poke fun at them dude

You okay? LOL

Not a bad deal for Ottawa imo.  They could have done worse.

Boedker - meh - he's a placeholder at 3 million salary / 4 cap for two years - serviceable replacement.

They managed however to get a 2nd round D prospect, who has maintained his draft value imo - essentially RHD prospect equivalent of a mid 2nd.

That's more than I would have paid for Hoffman under the circumstances.

At least the Sens got a worthwhile future in the deal, which in their circumstances you'd think would be the priority.

That subsequent deal to Florida might miff them though lol.

I'm curious who you believe they've replaced Marleau and Thornton with?

Sharks appear to be “rebuilding on the fly”

younger faster and should be a good team for years to come. Hoffman Kane are great additions for the departed(ing) old  vets/core.

good trade by SJS,

But I thought that is code for selling b.s. to the weak-minded lol.

btw Hoffman is not younger than Boedker and the claim that he's 'faster' is also curious.  Boedker isn't exacltly lacking speed.

And SJ gave us a 2nd round D prospect in that deal.

Without that subsequent trade to Florida, your narrative is a miss on all counts.

Ironic how cookie-cutter critical of Benning you are, but then such softballs you're lobbing at other GMs.
