6) Detroit Red Wings - Brady Tkachuk

7) Vancouver Canucks - Quinn Hughes

8) Chicago Blackhawks - Oliver Wahlstrom

9) New York Rangers - Evan Bouchard

10) Edmonton Oilers - Adam Boqvist

11) New York Islanders - Barret Hayton

12) New York Islanders - Ty Smith

13) Dallas Stars - Vitali Kravtsov

14) Philadelphia Flyers - Joel Farabee

15) Florida Panthers - Martin Kaut

16) Colorado Avalanche - Joe Veleno

17) New Jersey Devils - Bode Wilde

18) Columbus Blue Jackets - Dominik Bokk

19) Philadelphia Flyers - Serron Noel

20) Los Angeles Kings - Akil Thomas

22) Ottawa Senators - Jonatan Berggren

23) Anaheim Ducks - Mattias Samuelsson

24) Minnesota Wild - Grigori Denisenko

25) Toronto Maple Leafs - Bode Wilde

26) New York Rangers - Ryan McLeod

27) Chicago Blackhawks - Rasmus Sandin

28) New York Rangers - Ryan Merkley

29) St. Louis Blues - Isac Lundestrom

30) Detroit Red Wings - Nils Lundkvist

31) Washington Capitals - Liam Foudy

Solid list but many heartbreakers for me.  Especially:

We take Hughes at 7 with Boqvist on the board
EDM gets Boqvist at 10
LAFS get Bode Wilde at 25 (He's actually drafted twice on your list)
NYR comes out with Merkley and Bouchard (WOW)
CHI comes out with Wahlstrom and Sandin (WOW)

Yesterday, Benning said that for D, skating is so important.  Of the 4 D available, Hughes is the best skater, Boqvist is next.  Dobson does everything well .

Boqvist is flying under the radar.  Rated 4.5/5 on skating, 5/5 on IQ, 5/5 on skills, 3.5/5 on competitiveness and 3/5 on D by Button.  He's a dynamic D with a great shot and is a RHD (as opposed to Hughes).

Having said that, there are great arguments for all 4 and any of them would fit the bill imo.

I'm just saying don't be surprised if Benning takes Boqvist.

So he wants Bouchard.

We will just use our picks and no trades. How boring. We will get some good talent though.

Really easy to notice him with he was Juolevi's D partner the last year.

Canucks rumblings on the trade market. Upwards of 3 names now: Hanifin (although not much lately), maybe involved in the Hamilton rumours in some way, and Damon Severson. Hard to know if this at the expense of the number 7th or not, but likely

Good catch on the Bode Wilde slip up.... Not sure how I missed that.

As for Merkley, I feel strongly that if he goes in the 1st round it will be one of the last 5 pick and it will either be a team with multiple firsts (rangers, chicago, detroit), or a team that trades up into the very back end of the round to nab him

As soon as one sees the name Blake Price, all interest in the rumbling dies.

Price and Sekeres are as a reliable as a 1977 Ford Pinto.

3 hours and 10 minutes from the draft starting.  It starts at 6 pm. Dallas time.

In previous years, it started at 4:00 p.m. PT, but I believe this year, it's at 4:30 p.m. PT which would be 6:30 p.m. Dallas time.

Yeah Merkley I think goes to one if those teams.  If a move is made with Tanev/Edler then he'd for sure be a player I'd love to target.  He's only slightly behind Hughes in terms of USDP scoring and has size :gocan: but had an awful world junior tournament.

Granlund signed a one year deal. Could we see a sign and trade coming?

The kid looks like a total A-hole.

I dig it.  Hahah

haha, yes he does! And would actually look pretty good in a Canucks uniform. I don't know what he's like a person though, his work ethic, his character. I'm sure Benning would do his due diligence in an interview to find out though. Geez, he's a big kid too (6'3" 200).

I feel Benning is using some of his draft success to build up the players he doesn't think he wants. I will be surprised if Bouchard is not a Canuck by tonight. Might even see a trade if Montreal goes off the board. Bouchard is the best passer in the draft. Boeser on the left and Peterson on the right. wow could you imagine he would be an assist machine.

I'm trying a new tactic this year where I am not picking any favourites.  After last year I was so disappointed only to learn that there's a reason why I'm not a scout.  Once a name is called I'll learn all about him and give him the support he needs to thrive in Vancouver.  Exciting day today, CDC, let's stay positive.

That's a great attitude and something I should adopt. Last year I had my favourites too and was a little disappointed when MY pick wasn't chosen by the Canucks (not anymore!) Pettersson was a fantastic pick.

Whoever we get at #7 I will also support

Two years ago the Canucks and Montreal were both rumored to want Luke Dubious.  Jim Bennings dad works for the Canadians. I am not saying they talk but might think the same. Could the Canucks quietly be hoping for the Fin?

I think if I heard Benning say into the mic "Jesperi Kotkaniemi" I would laugh my a** off in disbelief, and then get real excited for the future

Cs

Horvat

Pettersson

Kotkaniemi

Gaudette

Hey, do we know if there is any pre-draft coverage on TV?  Main draft starts around 4:30 pm correct?  Is TSN or Sportsnet doing a lead up show?

I think it is going to be Bouchard guys. Sounds like everything JB has wanted the last few years. (Second choice would be Dobson for his character and all around game).

Big, RHD, PP Quarter back, best passer and heavy shot, decent  enough on D as well.

Someone said it earlier but Bouchard swinging passes from Petterson on the right to Boeser on the left is going to be money. Plus he can shoot a few to mix things up as well. Benning seems to like his first round picks to have heavy shots and we need that from our D desperately.

Edit: I'd be happy with Boquist as well. Again heavy shot!
