It has nothing to do with "this site" in any way at all.

All hockey fans are like that (other than about .05%) as really good defensive hockey is boring as hell.  Every time NJ beat teams with their trap system fans hated the games.

It has nothing to do with THIS SITE.

Why are you yelling?

It's the CdC.  Someone will always project all prospects solely based on points, and then there are others that will claim that plus minus is a key indicator for development.

So is Toni basically a Chris tanrv replacement because nothing wrong with that

Looks like it. Calm, has some skill, but always plays is safe, great positioning and gap control, won't outmuscle anyone, but plays smart and efficient, doesn't make mistakes, coaches trust him. Not flashy at all, but when he's on the ice it feels like everything is under control.

Not bad for a 5th rounder, jB.

Don't disagree with your post in anyway, shape or form but my perception is young defensive defensemen don't come into the NHL anymore. It seems to me that teams all want offensive skills first now, followed by 2 way skills and they will only use defense only d-men as a last resort. The league seems to be coming into a new cycle where outscoring the opposition is more of a priority as opposed to shutting down the opposition and capitalizing on your opportunities generated.

It is like every new young d-man entering the league has to be a very good skater, needs to join the rush and needs to be an elite puck mover.I may be wrong but I really can't think of any young d-men entering the NHL these days that don't meet these qualifications..It seems to me that in today's game a young d-man with Chris Tanev type skills would never get an opportunity to play in this new NHL.

I don't know if that is true or not.

I went to NHL stats and looked for all rookie D men from 2018/19 & 2019/20 who had played at least 30 games.  42 names showed up and only 14 out of those 42 D men had 15 or more points. That does not mean that their teams don't expect more out of them. I just found it interesting there were a lot of young D men that had very little points. Maybe a lot of them will turn into point producers or maybe many of them will have low point totals but be pretty good players.

There are some good young D on the list.
