morrissex95 Posted June 24, 2018 Share Posted June 24, 2018 I feel like Pettersson should get a year to marinate with Dahlen in the AHL. All of those trades are extremely fair except for the Orpik one. We should get the lower of Ottawa or Colorado's 1st in that deal. Leaping from a 1st rounder to all of a sudden a 2nd rounder just isn't a good trade. With the Toronto trade we should acquire a 1st with Liljegren for Tanev. I feel like that's more of a fair trade. Really hoping we get 1st overall next year so we can unite the Hughes brothers. Plus acquiring Jack Hughes would give us the option of pushing Pettersson to the wing or better yet putting Hughes on Petterson's wing. Either way we become a much stronger team with a Patrick Kane-like player on our team. mll Posted June 24, 2018 Share Posted June 24, 2018 Colorado can probably get a 2nd for Varlamov instead of having to give one up. They also don't plan on trading him - Sakic says there's no question he is keeping Varlamov. He wants them to split starts next year. Orpik is being bought out - he's on unconditional waivers. They have tonnes of cap space and money is not an issue. Even if he wasn't being bought out - they wouldn't be wasting a draft pick. Hutton and Gagner does nothing for them - they already have a full D-corps with much more promising players than Hutton.
