We will get Case in the 4th round. B)

Siedem is interesting I haven't really keyed in on him. NA central scouting has him at 88 I wonder if he will make it to the 3rd round and or beyond?

That'd be nice, and I mean some guys ranked around there don't even get drafted. Look at Nando Eggenberger for example, he's getting second looks.
This might not even be Siedem's year. Who knows? Perhaps a year after going undrafted, he has a terrific freshman year at Harvard and he goes much higher than he would in this year's draft.

For round two, wouldn't it be amazing if Samuel Poulin fell? That would be a blessing.

So who's got 2nd round favorites?????????

@fwd

Nolan Foote LW PWF Big nasty can you really go wrong with the Foote Clan.

John Beecher LW PWF has been known to "Go Ape" another UMich alum.

@D

Kokkonen LHD attacking style 5"11 but sturdy base looking right at home in Liiga

Lassi Thompson RHD offensive PPQB good 200' play

Korczak RHD shut down acumen with a feisty side can put up points in the clutch.

@G

Isaiah Saville kids incredible lead the USHL in GAA in his rookie year. Look at those stats at every level. He could be the answer to the Marky Demko ED conundrum. His only blemish is 2 games at Hilinka.

https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/365042/isaiah-saville

Nils Hoglander, on the smaller side but plays a very feisty style. Has some skill too not just grit. Playing in the SHL this year. I also like all the D you mentioned.

Two other guys, not sure if they are 2nd or 3rd rounders. But Maxim Cajkovic playing for Saint Johns & the Giants goalie Trent Miner.

For Cajkovic, Saint John was a terrible team this year. It was up & down for him personally. His attitude towards the team at times wasn't great & his coach sat him out a bit because of it. But he's big, can skate, plays defense & has a rocket of a shot. The tools are there. I think mentally he was doing better at the end of the season. On a better team his production could've been better like Krebs.

I like Trent Miner quite a bit. Everytime I've seen the Giants on TV I've been impressed. I went to see game 2 against the Thunderbirds & he wasn't great, he ended up losing the net from that game on. So a mixed bag in my limited viewings but he's got good size & he's athletic. Great stats & by all accounts had a very good year for the Giants.

Too much work, better off targeting bjornfot.

My flavour of the day today is Cole Caufield.

How will this guy not blossom into an elite goal-scorer? And he's got that very low-centre gravity, much like Barzal and his doppelganger DeBrincat.

I am slightly afraid of Caufield. Not even because of his height although it is a concern but rather because if you look at a guy like Kieffer Bellows a few years back he had a lot of goals, something like 50 in 62 and he's way bigger than Caufield. He was playing with Clayton Keller and although he racked up a lot of goals was severely lacking in the playmaking category. Right now he is not looking too good as a prospect.

Edit: Sorry forgot to mention when your playing with guys as talented as Jack Hughes your bound to get your goals so the question is how inflated his totals are because of Hughes.

I like this idea. It doesn't matter how many goalies are in the system if none are ready to play, a la Mikey DiPietro. With more goaltending depth, injuries can be dealt with accordingly and situations like what happened earlier this year can be avoided. They've got Jake Kielly and DiPietro coming up, two solid prospects. Shoring up the position could be huge for them at the draft.

I mean, if Spencer Knight is there in the second round I'm taking him without a doubt.

If Spencer Knight falls to us I'd go crazy. I think he could be a top 15 pick.

But I agree. I think you should always try to draft a goalie, they are such voodoo. So many goalies are found in the later rounds. If you add a bunch to your pile your bound to find one that surprises you.

I really like Barzal.  I don't see the same skating and skill level in Newhook.  Barzal has the classic hockey lower base: bowed legs, and super strong lower body.  Newhook doesn't have that same strength of base.  Nice player, but not going to light the league on fire IMO.

Well in all fairness no one thought Barzal was going to either that’s why he wasn’t drafted top 5/10.

i personally think Barzal is a good comparison to newhook

What an incredibly boring pick at 10 this would turn out to be.

lol And here I was thinking damn, Kuzma is right. I think he is right, but you're right too. It's a ho-hum kind of pick for me, even though I know the Canucks future D would be in fine shape. I would prefer a winger for Pettersson's line though. Kind of in reverse, I think they can find a good D with the 2nd (Vlasic, Thomson, Korczak, Bjornfot).

Rather make a "boring pick" that improves the team & fills a need, than going risky/exciting & getting a player that doesn't.

Personally I don't think he's boring. He's exciting. He could play in the SHL next year as a top D, then be knocking on the NHL door the year after. He's clearly got great puck skills, smarts & a pretty good shot. I think there's understated offensive upside here. If he's an all-situations top pair defenseman, that's better than any 2nd line winger we could draft.

Part of Barzal falling was injuries too though. There was always huge upside with Barzal.

I like the comp stylistically. I'm still not totally sold on Newhook having the same elite upside, but I'm excited to see him at u18's & I'm open to changing my thinking.

Newhook is going to be a late climber. I predict he goes top 10

Yeah I could see this too if he lights it on fire at the u18's.

The other dark horse riser for me is Spencer Knight, although top 10 is probably a little too high.

posted this link a day or two ago but I’m not sure if you’ve seen this. Soderstrom is far from boring. Personally to me the only top 15 or so players that would be a boring pick would be Broberg.

I just saw this. I trust Malloy so much, like he taught me everything I know about evaluating prospects.

I'd add Zegras to his list, but yeah it'll 90% be one of them. Soda, Boldy, Krebs, or, in my personal opinion, Zegras.

Malloy, Shane Malloy? Or Kuzma, it was his tweet.
