2018-19 Utica Comets Thread

bad night for the baby nucks. they were an adventure in their own end, pk coverage was bad, sub par goaltending, and a whole lot of unforced errors including bad passes and bad penalties. didn't help that wedgewood was having an amazing night in goal for the amerks. oh well, on to the next one

Been to almost every home game since day one and this has to rank as the worst showing by any Comets team.  It was even more painful in person than on AHL TV.  They looked like a mediocre Div 3 team playing Stanley Cup Champs the 1st period.  The middle ten minutes of the 3rd they came to life but stymied by great goal tending.  Some of the stats you may have missed. Gave up 3 goals on 5 shots and then 5 goals on 15 shots. Amerks were 4/5 on the PP.  This one is a total write off and let's get Kulbakov between the pipes for Cleveland.

One great milestone it was an official sellout number 120 tying St Johns consecutive regular season record. 135th sellout counting playoff games. The empty seats are no show season ticket holders too lazy to transfer or sell their tickets.

Olli Juolevi notched his first North American professional goal but on the night it was a game that he would rather forget.  The pairing of Chatfield - Juolevi struggled all night in the defensive zone and Olli was victimized too many times by weak passes that were either picked off or immediately put the receiver of the pass in a bad position.

In general I have been impressed with Juolevi so far this season but last night wan't one of them.

CANUCKS ASSIGN ALEX BIEGA TO THE COMETS

Oct 18, 2018

Utica, N.Y. – Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the club has assigned defenseman Alex Biega to the Comets.

Biega suited up in 138 NHL games with the Vancouver Canucks, recording 20 points (2-18-20). He did not play in any games with the Canucks this season.

The Montreal, Quebec native also appeared in 77 games with the Comets from 2014-17 including the inaugural season and the 2015 Calder Cup Finals run. Biega was named as team’s captain in the 2015-16 season.

Tickets were sold but there have been empty seats during games no? Just the the Canucks and them trying to say oh another sell out not that long ago when it was clear on tv or being live at the game that it never got close to capacity.

To me, sell out is when every seat has a butt in it to watch the game. not a ticket that got sold, or given away then the person no shows.

regardless Utica has supported the Comets big time since they arrive so good on them!

Any news if we will send some players to the ECHL so we dont have to sit so many guys all the time?

The AHL counts attendance based on the number of tickets sold rather than "turnstile attendance" for all of the teams in the league. There will always be empty seats at the Aud and sometimes more than others.

Over 75% of the available seats at the Aud are held by season ticket holders who don't make it to every game. Not all of them either give their tickets away or sell them to make sure that the seats are used when they can't make it to the game.
