See here in Canada, we do things a bit differently....

....I give you the Canadian version of "going postal":

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/canada-post-employee-charged-in-erratic-naked-driving-spree-in-calgary/ar-BBLkF9a?li=AAggNb9

Quote

The 35-year-old man was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle after the incident on Crowchild Trail during rush hour on July 4.

CBC News has decided not to name the accused based on information that there are serious concerns for his mental health.

Sources confirm to CBC News that the man is a delivery agent for Canada Post but a spokesperson said the organization would not comment as the case is before the courts.

It was around 5 p.m. on the Wednesday afternoon when several calls came in to police reporting a Canada Post truck driving erratically along Crowchild Trail south of Glenmore Trail.

The truck struck about eight other vehicles before the driver stopped, got out and entered a convenience store.

When the man came out of the store, he was taken into police custody and paramedics were brought in to assess his condition.

...and some good news from China:

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/chinese-toddler-survives-17-storey-fall/ar-BBLmSMK?li=AAggNb9

Quote

Doctors have been left shocked after a Chinese toddler survived a 17-storey fall from her apartment building when she was left home alone while her grandmother was grocery shopping.

Young Yueyue, 2, was barely injured by the fall and only required treatment for a minor contusion to her liver and a small fracture to her ribs, The Daily Mail reports.

Young fell from the open window July 11. Her fall was broken by several tree branches and she landed on a soft patch of soil that was still damp from recent rain.

I don't believe in miracles, but that is pretty miraculous....

Also, a bit off topic, but I'm wondering if in 70 years or so, she'll have to change her name to Old Yueyue....B)

Hard to believe that this sort of thing happens in any country, let alone a first world country:

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/new-mexico-compound-11-emaciated-children-rescued/ar-BBLwzKB?li=AAggNb9

Quote

Eleven children that looked like third world country refugeesî were rescued from a compound in Taos County, New Mexico yesterday, according to a statement from the Taos County Sheriff's Office. The only food We saw were a few potatoes and a box of rice in the filthy trailer, Taos County Sheriff Jerry Hogrefe said in the statement. But what was most surprising, and heartbreaking was when the team located a total of five adults and 11 children that looked like third world country refugees not only with no food or fresh water, but with no shoes, personal hygiene and basically dirty rags for clothing. Law enforcement executed a search warrant on the compound Friday and arrested two heavily armed men, Lucas Morten and Siraj Wahhaj. AR14 rifles, loaded 30 round magazines, four loaded pistols, and many rounds of ammo were found in the makeshift compound that consists of a small travel trailer buried in the ground covered by plastic with no water, plumbing, or electricity, the statement said. Wahhaj was also wanted for child abduction of 3-year-old AG Wahhaj in Georgia. Morten was charged with harboring a fugitive and Wahhaj was booked on his no bond Georgia warrant for child abduction. Three women were also taken into custody for questing and released, police believe they are the mothers of the eleven children. The three-year-old missing child was not one of the eleven children rescued. The rescued children range in age from 1 to 15 years old.

It isn't just in the states and Europe that we see racism rearing it's ugly head.....it's alive and well here in Canada as well:

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/airbnb-host-turns-ontario-student-away-because-his-friend-is-black/ar-BBLLOnB?li=AAggFp5

Van Hoepen told HuffPost Canada that the host, identified only as Grace, started to ask him a series of bizarre questions.

Finally, about his friend, she asked, "Is he black?"

Unsure of how to respond, Van Hoepen consulted with his friend, who told him he was proud to be black and that he should answer honestly.

"I've never experienced this before, myself, because I'm Caucasian... my first instinct was to be like 'what does race really matter? We're just trying to book a room.'"

When he told Grace that his friend was black, she allegedly told him to cancel the reservation because black people were not allowed in her building

Van Hoepen said they had tried to give Grace the benefit of the doubt but they were flabbergasted by her response.

"We were just like, 'Whoa, what's happening?'"

It sounds like Airbnb did the right thing and dumped this woman, but what a sad state of affairs....

Roundup cancer verdict sends Bayer shares sliding

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Bayer (BAYGn.DE) shares plunged as much as 14 percent on Monday, losing about $14 billion in value, after newly acquired Monsanto was ordered to pay $289 million in damages in the first of possibly thousands of U.S. lawsuits over alleged links between a weedkiller and cancer.

After the verdict in favor of a California school groundskeeper with terminal cancer, Monsanto faces more than 5,000 similar lawsuits across the United States over claims it did not warn of the cancer risks of glyphosate-based weedkillers, including its Roundup brand.

Monsanto, bought by Bayer this year for $63 billion, said that it would appeal against the jury’s verdict in California, which is the latest episode in a long-running debate over claims that exposure to Roundup can cause cancer.

The case by plaintiff Dewayne Johnson, filed in 2016, was fast-tracked for trial due to the severity of his non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph system that he alleges was caused by Roundup and Ranger Pro, another Monsanto glyphosate herbicide.

“The jury’s verdict is at odds with the weight of scientific evidence, decades of real world experience and the conclusions of regulators around the world that all confirm glyphosate is safe and does not cause non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma,” Bayer said in a statement.

Having closed the Monsanto takeover, Bayer is only awaiting the approval of some final antitrust-related asset sales before folding it into its own organization. It did not negotiate any payments from Monsanto shareholders for Roundup-related litigation.

Bayer shares were down 11.2 percent at 82.93 euros at 1320 GMT, the worst performing stock on the Stoxx Europe 600 index , and on track to close at their lowest in almost five years.

Barclays analysts said Bayer was in for a “litigious headache”.

“Whilst an appeal is certain and may indeed likely result in the penalty being moderated at a minimum if not reversed altogether, a large number of similar pending cases will now likely multiply.”

This award will definitely be reduced on appeal but it doesn't bode well for the multitude of lawsuits that will be following.

Bayer sure was dumb not to include provisions for Monsanto related lawsuits in their merger agreement.

You sleep with a dog, you get fleas. Looks good on them.

Speaking of racists, what about Sarah Jeong?

https://personalliberty.com/yes-its-racist-when-they-do-it/

Roseanne Barr gets executed for noting a resemblance between some lady and a character on Planet of the Apes, but nothing happens when actual racism, not implied or imaginary innuendo-racism is on display, is repeatedly posted by an Asian lady. Give that lady a raise!

No double standard here... ha.

Barr was fired for tweeting this out while she was under employment with ABC. If you don't think there is anything racist about this then either you are a drooling idiot and/or a racist.

There is no double standard. Roseanne got a show despite her history of racist behavior.

As did Sarah Jeong and as did the many athletes who have tweeted out racist or white supremacist comments in their past.

Don't embarass your employer, dont get fired. Seems like a rather simple concept but some still find it hard to grasp.

A major issue is that the "white privilege" concept was developed to explain the differences between black and white people in America, and there is most certainly truth to it, as white people, generally, do have systematic advantages over black people in the USA.

The analogy really doesn't apply to other non-white groups though. Asian people, are on average, more privileged than white people in the USA. They have far higher incomes and access to education. An Asian person does not have a free pass on making racist comments towards other groups.
