They're looking for a D-man. And we know how much they love French. As it happens, Alex Biega fits both requirements. To make it even better, he's from Montreal. So it will have to be Ericsson + Gagner + Biega. :P

If Patches is asking for 8 x 8 he is basically demanding a trade, right?

well there is strong rumour out there

that a trade was in place to move him to the kings

conditional on a contract being worked out

kings were not prepared to meet his contract demands

and that trade did not go through

so he is asking for a trade to a team that will provide assets to the habs

and give him an above market value contract

(which likely the habs were also not prepared to sign on for)

a big mess over this player who is the team captain

pretty toxic over there i'm thinking

Rumoured to be asking for 8 years 8+ million. I’m not surprised Montreal is shopping him. That is if the demands are true.

Guy wants to get paid. Has spent the last few years on a very cap friendly contract. He would get 8 in FA, one would think

well in free agency

there is not requirement to trade assets to acquire the player

so the dollar value is often higher as a result

in a trade situation where assets are also spent

i really cannot see a team doing that and giving him full value as if he is a free agent

then they might as well wait for his contract to expire

this might just happen in this situation given his contract demands

and his down year last season

he will be paid better if he has a more productive season

(but really how likely is he to achieve that on the habs who likely will be lousy)

seems the habs will have to take a reduction on what they get back for him

since they have openly been reducing his value with their odd approach to moving him

the way this is written

makes me think

As far as I’m concerned, Pacioretty is a cancer of the likes of Dallas Eakins’ days as Edmonton coach; head games, my way or the highway, no grander vision, not a leader but a boss...

Pacioretty’s bossiness has cost Subban as well as Plekanek...

Repatriate the local boy!  That'll sell tickets and hope.

Pacioretty will score a team at least 60 points this year for a 4.5 million cap hit. Max would be an outstanding peice for a team to acquire for Stanley Cup run. Provides solid leadership and is a great value, Montreal should receive a nice haul for him. That being said, it's Montreal... so they will probably mess this up...
