21, poopy stats, AHL depth if Demko can take a spot on the big boy roster. Goalies develop oddly, maybe he can find a more permanent spot in the AHL. Or even find his way to a NHL game or two.

He had great numbers in the USHL. I'm guessing that's where the Canucks started watching him. He briefly was a teammate of Rathbone's.

If he can get back on track with Clarke he may still become a serviceable AHL goalie.

Interesting.   I thought his lateral movement was off the charts - the problem was that there was too much of it as he is "too active" or at least was.   Where did you see him and was he trying to stay more still on purpose?    Not sure that is something Ian would have coached into him but I didn't see him at all last year so who knows.

And the only guys (Palmu and Manukyan) that can squeeze through the cracks are in the Canucks organization.

At 5"6 and 180lbs Palmu won't be squeezing through cracks.

Why not?

Because this fills a hole left open by Garteig leaving. Kulbakov is unlikely to see much AHL action and he isn't likely to push Demko up the depth chart ahead of Markstrom and Nilsson.

Nickname: Kublai Khan(Ghengis' grandkid)?

We could start some snazzy Mongolian war-chants!

Sounds a little too far east for that reference:

I know people are giving him flack for his poor stats, but if you look into how BAD the team was, you'd understand.

2017-2018 ECHL 72 25 - 42 - 5 196 295 55 7 Did not make playoffs

25 wins, 42 losses.

GF 196

GA 295

The team went from a final 8 finisher to a bottom dweller.

What else do we see here?

  6.png ECHL
1. Branden Komm   1 2.04 .929 |
2. C.J. Motte   28 3.45 .910 |
3. Ivan Kulbakov   22 3.63 .902 |
4. Alex Sakellaropoulos   1 3.96 .875 |
5. Eric Hartzell   16 4.56 .874 |
6. Jake Paterson   4 5.31 .854 |
7. Matthew O'Connor   6 5.12 .853 |
8. Teddy Florence   0 - - |
9. Kent Nusbaum   0 - - |
10. Jake Reed   0 - - |

Based on the goalie stats, it's clear that the entire team got slammed with goals.

Context is everything.

My statement was in regards to his numbers.  They're bad.  Like really bad.

But its obvious he plays better in big game scenarios with a better team in front of him.

Still...those numbers

The numbers are bad because of the team that he was on. I am not saying that he doesn't need to improve as a goalie or what not. I'm just saying that before you jump to conclusions based on his number, you need to consider why they are bad. All the goalies on his team posted bad numbers.
