Turkey essentially just gave evidence proving his disappearance was  a murder over to the WAPO and has a link to it if anyone wants to look in to it

Trump...questioned whether Kashoggi was even a US citizen (he was)

Will be very very interesting to see what happens now

my guess is nothing and that he will instead congratulate himself many many times for personally freeing the American pastor that was being held..

Looks like a few calls were made to an Eastern European country and a few visits made to the witnesses families from some unsavory individuals to help them remember (as in forget) correctly ;P

My guess is nothing as well.

That big NYT report on TRUMP! landed this past week and the Sunday Politics shows didn't touch on it.  I think something else will come up and distract from this.....  look squirrel!!!

Why Saudi Arabia gets a pass from the US is a mystery.

It's not just Trump, although he is particulary slack in giving them a carte blanche to do anything they please.

Saudi Arabian government ignores the fact that most of the money going to the Pakistan Taliban comes from its own citizens... same with the Al Shabaab group in Somalia.  Same with Al Quaeda.  They wink at this, its part of its two faced behaviour... on one side expecting to be protected and supplied with arms by the US in return for 'cooperation'... and on the other side, allowing their citizens to fund the spread of radical Salafist Jihadist doctrine around the world.  Almost all the radical Mosques in France, Belgium and England where various terrorists were indoctrinated prior to executing their attacks were funded either directly by Saudi Arabia under the guise of 'spreading culture', by one of its citizens or one of the United Emirate countries which are the lapdogs of Saudi.

The reason Pakistan is such a mess is a result of Saudi money and propaganda being poured into the country to build 'islamic schools' and mosques... advocating radical Salifism.  The fact the literacy rate is very low in Pakistan means the ordinary Pakistani is very vulnerable to being brainwashed into thinking radical behaviour is ok.  Pakistan is the worst danger for Nuclear War of any country in the world... Pakistan is almost a failed state, and if the Pakistan Taliban or one of the radical Salafist groups take over, they cannot be trusted not to start using those weapons against India or some other perceived enemy.

Here's another example of how idiotic and brutal the Saudi leadership is:

They had a ban on woman driving right up until a short while ago.

Among those who were protesting this was this woman, Loujain al-Hathloul

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loujain_al-Hathloul#/media/File:Loujain_Alhathloul.jpg

She got thrown in jail for several months.

Then the new Crown Prince decided he was going to take credit for 'opening up the country' and he legalized women driving.

But he wanted to get all the kudos, so when the above lady celebrated the victory with a single tweet, he decided she was trying to take some of the glow from him and threw her in jail again.  She has disappeared completely and may be dead or being tortured.

Trump was asked about this yesterday...  his answer:

-  Khashoggi is not a US citizen

-  Saudi has 110 Billion in investments in US

Therefore he doesn't see doing anything.

I.e. if you spend enough money in the US, its ok to murder people... you get a pass.

Trump also, not so coincidentally, has millions in business dealings with Saudis.

No, but the difference being, Columbo would have known who dunnit the moment he walked into the lobby of the Consulate.

As long as Saudi Arabia controls the oil markets, they will have lots of allies. Things may change when the USA becomes a net oil exporter again. Even then, the USA can't afford to have the Saudis join the Russian camp.

Make you wonder about the end goals of certain organizations.

Canada with one of the world's largest reserves of hydrocarbon, yet Canada imports oil from Saudi Arabia.  The vast amount of anti-oil politics going on.... I wonder how much of the money are from the Saudi's and their allies.

Hate Trump or love the guy... he's in a tough bind.  It wasn't too long ago that Trudeau was handed the portfolio of the arms deal with the Saudis.  That was just for like $6 billion (?).... so to have contracts reaching up to $110 billion.  To put that into perspective, that's almost 10% of Canada's GDP.

I'm all for reducing trade to non-similarly aligned countries.... but everyone really needs to put their wallet to where their mouth is, to think with your brain and not with your emotions.  You want the world to chastise the Saudis?  Canada can start by building more pipelines and promote greater extraction of oil.... or start transition to cheaper energy like nuclear.

While this case is garnering news... this is like a regular occurrence in places like China.  Journalists, human rights activists, lawyers, etc... they "disappear" often, but with minimal notice in the West.

If I was in charge, I would totally just negotiate the sales of arms to redirect to the Philippines, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan.  The only ones really losing will be Saudi Arabia and China.... double plus for the world.

That is what happens when you have so much oil, that you don’t know what to do with it.

Also you have been weapon buyer going back to 1933, since the 90’s you are the largest buyer of U.S weapons.

He also admires other dictators and their ability to willy nilly silence opponents, journalists, and the peasantry. He would do it himself if he could. All indications are there and there are only a few obstacles in the way of his dictatorship.

Then you have the routine chumps in D.C. pretending as if they're going to be able to stone wall Trump on this issue (Flake, Rubio). More tough talk from them and little to no action in the end. Rubio talks about "taking congressional action." The same congress that has coined the nickname "the do nothing congress", the same congress that cowers before the Orange One. The only one who had any balls on the right side of the aisle was McCain and he's dead.

It's very sad that many first world countries support the Saudi regime.

One word:  Oil.

One Hundred years ago there was no Saudi Arabia.  The area now known as Saudi Arabia was part of the Ottoman Empire which fell apart after WWI.  The British and their allies after defeating Germany, divided up what was left of the Ottoman Empire.  One result was Saudi Arabia.  One hundred years ago Saudi Arabia was nothing but sand.   A poor country with abject poverty ruled by harsh rulers.  All of that changed with the discovery of oil in 1938.

Now fast forward 100 from now.  The world in 2118 will no longer need oil to the extent used now.  Once rich countries like Saudi Arabia will go back to what they were before: a nothing country.

This whole story is so bizarre. The Turks are claiming Khashoggi was wearing an iWatch and recorded audio and possible video of his own murder. This seems highly fishy for a few reasons.

1) I really doubt Saudi security forces would have not removed an electronic watch. They're scumbags but they're not stupid.

2) If there's video from an iWatch it would most likely have been pointed at the ceiling or the wall and not captured much usable video.

3) How would the Turks have got the content from the iWatch? The Saudis surely took everything with them when they left. How would they know he had an iWatch and how would they access the content from the cloud?

If there is audio and video it surely means the Turks had bugged the Saudi consulate. Which is brings up a few interesting questions. How many other consulates have they bugged and for how long? Also, if they had eyes and ears in the room why did they let this poor guy get tortured and dismembered?

Kind of explains why the Turks released the American Pastor who was being held captive as they'd want to get in the US administrations good books before this situation blows up.

Going to be very interesting to see how this all unfolds.

^  You just answered your own question...story isn't odd.  The Apple iWatch story is just a smokescreen to cover that they had the consulate bugged.  And before anybody jumps on Turkey for doing this, pretty much ALL countries that have the ability to do this likely do it as well.  They just won't/can't admit to it for obvious reasons.
