Me_
We hear a lot about players who have a reputation of being a “locker room cancer”. From Kassian asking for a trade (cancer) to Gagner asking to play near his family (cancer), here is a place to compile a database of the locker room cancers of the hockey world past, present and future. Who do you think are the biggest cancers in hockey? EDIT: This thread is not supposed to be about my opinion on Kassian or Gagner. Those two players have been deemed “cancer” players very recently in other threads. This thread is supposed to be about your opinion on what makes a player a “cancer” and who those players are. Sorry for the lack of clarity.
Twilight Sparkle
idk if i would call kassian a locker room "cancer" than just being his own worst enemy. it didn't really affect anyone around him other than himself i spent my 20,000th post on this LOL okay, then

-AJ-
I see nothing "cancerous" about simply asking for a trade or asking to play near your family. Both seem very reasonable. Cancerous is bringing down your teammates emotionally, starting constant fights/arguments in the locker room, disrespecting coaching staff, etc. AKA Sean Avery everywhere except with the Rangers. Lionized27
Probably belongs in "general hockey discussion" but...as far as the most polarizing player: Claude Lemieux. I'm sure not many of his teammates enjoyed his locker room banter.
Rick Blight
Unless you have shared the dressing room and traveled on the road with these players you will never know who the players are that you describe as "locker room cancer".
Cramarossa
Would Hoffman's gf count as a locker room cancer?
NewbieCanuckFan
You're paid to be professionals. I tend to think most act accordingly. Now if this was a junior team....

Maginator
Dion Phaneuf when he played for Calgary. Infidelity with teammates' wives & being a general douche.
coastal.view
sounds like the whitecaps might have half a locker room of cancerous players

Slegr
Not sure about all time, but modern day cancer seems to be found in the form of Evander Kane.

It was the team that decided he wouldn't be playing here. So what if he requested to play closer to home instead of Utica? That doesn't make him a locker room cancer. Whaleroad Train
Mark Messier anyone?
JeremyCuddles
The term is mostly used by fans to explain why X player isn’t meeting expectations. Kane despite a bunch of teammates words otherwise is considered a locker room cancer. Hell, Subban is considered a locker room concer for no reason other than he celebrates goals enthusiastically. Not sure what it was, guys like Bertuzzi and Jovo really turned it around when he was gone. Kassian I believe had work ethic issues and not really a bad locker room guy. Patrick Sharp sleeping with Keiths wife or something. Carter sleeping with Prongers wife. Kesler sleeping with Schneiders wife and womanizing on the road. Lindros and Brind'amour.
