if sutter and say a second can fetch a scoring winger or defensively responsible type prospect it would help the team in the long run more than holding on to a player who will start the downturn of his career in 3-5 years. His injury time is also something to consider

Sutter and beagle out hasn't helped the goals against. Boeser and baertschi out hasn't helped the goals for. Plus Sutter can chip in offensively as well. We have more forwards on the way and more D as well. At some point you simply have to let the team rend upwards rather than trading quality for futures. At this point you wait until young guys catch or surpass the older players before moving them.
