Potential WCF showdown!

Rinne would have made a difference just by being there. San Jose is cheating with Burns and Karlsson.

LOL, they put more than one guy on Joe's line. Bumped up their valiue. And traded em for guys like Brent Burns. Unbelievable. Hank, in his 2 or 3 most dominant years was the best playmaker in the game. Joe still the most dominant playmaker of the last 20 years. And yeah, 0.95 PPG over 20 years = first ballot, no brainer. -AJ-
First ballot, no question. Not a huge fan of the guy, but he's one of the best playmakers in NHL history. No one has more than his 96 assists (2005-06) other than Mario, Bobby, Wayne, and Adam Oates. The 1000 assist mark is also an incredibly rare mark for any player to hit. Keep in mind that Hank never even hit 900.
RRypien37
You know you're an elite set up man when Jonathan Cheechoo can get a 56 goal season sitting shot gun on your line.
JeremyCuddles
Easily a HoF player. Especially if you think the Sedins belong in there. Not a Thornton fan but he's one of the best playmakers in the history of the game.

Lancaster
Wasn't he also the last player to have over 100 assists in 82 games? It was broken over the course of 2 separate season, but I believe the last player to do that was Mario.

"Much of Cheechoo's success was augmented by the Sharks acquisition of superstar Joe Thornton in late November. Before the trade, Cheechoo had 15 points (7 goals and 8 assists) in 24 games. In the 57 games after the trade, Cheechoo had 78 points (49 goals and 29 assists)." o.O
Tre Mac
Fun Fact(s): The most ever games played by a first overall pick and the only player to get traded while leading the league in scoring.
Coconuts
First ballot guy without a doubt, what he's done is mind boggling. It's actually kind of sad he hasn't won a cup, kinda like Iginla for me. Backbones of their team but things always just kinda crumbled. Iggy got closer though. -Vintage Canuck-
Definitely. He joins Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe, Mario Lemieux, Jaromir Jagr, Mark Messier, Ron Francis, Marcel Dionne, Steve Yzerman, Joe Sakic and Ray Bourque as the only players in NHL history with 400 goals and 1000 assists. Those are all Stanley cup winners! I heard Gretzky say : they’re are a lot of players that win individual awards and scoring titles but what makes them great and what the ultimate goal is hoisting the Stanley cup. That is a list of “Great” players! I’m sure Thornton will find his way to the hall of fame. He might even have one last chance to belong on that list , but not yet. MattJVD
No Question. Also, he's the only player in the 4 major North American sports to be traded part way though a scoring title winning season.

Luckily for Boston their drafting was impressive after that to boost them back.
