Hagelin is a $4 million cap hit and Pearson is a $3.75 million cap hit. Base on history, Hagelin is the faster skater and Pearson have better hands in terms of scoring. The difference to me is that Hagelin is a UFA after this year, while Pearson have 2 more years left in his current contract after this season. Kings doesn’t seem to believe Pearson can be a 20 goal scorer again for them in the near future, and it’s like a cap-dump move. I predict the Kings will likely retain some salary and move Hagelin at the deadline for a mid-round pick or B level prospect to keep building towards the future. Penguins are hoping Pearson would be able to go back to be a 20 goal scorer playing with either Crosby/Malkin. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
