[Trade] Strome/Perlini for Schmaltz

Recommended Posts

Strome is tearing it up with 29pts in 32gp with Chi. Also Domi has been looking like a top line forward since he left the Yotes. Think this just goes to show how terrible Ariz is at developing young talent and making them look a lot worse than they really are. Hopefully JB can can take advantage of this and pickup someone like Christian Dvorak or Jakob Chychrun.

Before Schmaltz got injured, he had 14 pts in 17 game.....a pretty good clip himself. The trade so far looks like a win-win for both teams since both players seem to be benefiting from the change of scenery.  Considering how young both these players are, it could possibly be years before we know who wins the trade, if there is a winner.

But the rekindled chemistry between Strome and Debrincat is pretty fun to watch.  Hopefully it lasts because it gives Chicago two very productive lines.

Strome always had more talent than his brother and he really didn't get a real chance with arizona. He played 48 games or so over 2 years, and in the AHL was a ppg player. I am not sure why Arizona gives up on a young talented center so soon, it goes to show the risks of doing so. Brilliant trade by Chicago to marry him back up with his OHL linemate, their chemistry is unbelievable and now he's learning behind Toews and Kane. Chicago has its next 2 offensive leaders in those two, if they continue the trend, and they have alot of years left with 19 and 88 anyways....Just goes to show, Az stat boy doesn't get it, my guess is he had 'bad advanced stats'...smh

At this point it's gotta be cultural. It's not like Arizona doesn't give kids chances nor do they really throw kids to the fire. Chychrun was played immediately after being drafted. They also made moves to add vets in Stepan, Goligoski and Hjalmarsson. I don't truly understand why the team just can't improve outside of having a losing culture for so long. Even this trade wasn't necessarily bad for Arizona. Schmaltz was playing great for Arizona before injury troubles. Would help if Raanta could stay healthy too.
