[Proposal] TDL Future power house

What I find, is that some teams make big trades, bring in high quality players who improve the team they've been traded to. Look at BUF, sure they have Dahlin and Mittelstadt in the lineup, but their biggest move was probably trading for Skinner. He's got 19 goals so far. Then there's SJ, who traded for Kane last year and Karlsson this year - contenders. And TOR, they signed Tavares and traded for a good goalie. Now look at them. It certainly isn't because of Matthews.

Then there are teams like VAN and EDM, who go out and make a trade for another bottom 6 player, hoping that player improves the PK or adds some grit,  or a different dimension to the team, but these trades rarely improve the team much at all.  They're bottom 6 players.

Last time the Canucks signed a big fish? Was it Sundin for those few months years ago? The Canucks need better players in their Top 6.  They should go after Nylander to play with Pettersson. I just feel like they're trudging along year after year, doing the same things. It'll probably happen again at next year's Free Agency, Benning will probably sign 2-3 average UFAs to bring in a veteran presence or whatever. I just want one big trade, something meaningful that will improve the team. Yes, it will cost a lot, but what have they got to lose?

Legit Canucks Top 6

Horvat

Boeser

Pettersson

Goldobin

that's it, they need more, but from where? Dahlen? He might not make the team for 2 years and he'll probably have to work his way up from the 3rd line.

I like Tampa deal but would never resign Edler in the off season.  Not a pp specialist--fumbles the puck too much and doesn't pass the puck with precision.  Not to mention he is so slow.  And, is made of glass.

His passes are fine and it doesn't matter that he's not a PP specialist... we'll have Hughes for that

And how is a d-man playing 20+ minutes a game, averaging ~70 games a year, made of glass

Not Goldy.  Jake is though.

Bo

Bess

Petey

Jake

Then insert a Goldy level of player on both lines, and all’s good.

Teams are floundering , Florida, Tampa and Phili are in the win now stage deals are there to be done.

Edler for Raddysh  is a good deal for both clubs Tampa gets a very good d man we get a top end prospect , Tampa's pantry is full of them.

Phili deal we get Sanheim, Flyer's get help in goal and D and a prospect that can play.

Florida gets help Sutter makes them away better, Markstrom makes them way better, Gudbranson makes them way better. We get two high end prospects. Our future would be Bright.

Future Team

Goldobin - Pettersson - Boeser ( Scoring Line)

Baertschi - Horvat - Raddysh ( Scoring Line)

Tippitt  - Borgstrom - Virtanen ( Scoring Line)

Roussel - Beagle - Eriksson (checking Line)

 Edler/Hughes - Tanev

         Sanheim - Stecher

         Juolevi  - Woo

         Hutton   -  Petrovic

Well, I'm not drunk yet, but will (likely) be later.

Why would EK not come to a team that is clearly on the up swing?  Plus, we have (mabye?) the next great Swedish Superstar for EK to play with.

EK will play for whoever can give him the money.  That list is limited at the moment, and Vancouver is on it.  10-12million, SJ has some of the highest taxes too so they are handcuffed compared to Vegas, TB and Florida who can offer him 10 million which pays like 12 in SJ, or 9 which pays like 10.5 etc.  Rumours are his family is enjoying it in SJ so far and they can offer him an extra year, they offered 13 for Tavares so you know they can make it work under the cap....I’d say he stays...but of course would be happy if he came to Vancouver, find a goaltender that can play on par with Miller or better and we are playoff bound, and in a year or two with this years draft coming in and our core in their prime our window is open for a cup.

With agreement from players to waive their clauses and the cap space available the Canucks could be King makers.

Any team that could add Edler and Tanev to it's roster would have a big advantage going into the playoffs.

Having cap space combined with trading either should buy a 1rst round pick, the problem is any playoff team's 1 first won't be a lottery pick unless the team does something like a trade to LA or Anaheim for their 2020 picks.

Chicago might deal one of their 1rst's in 2019 or 2020 because they have their stars aging out.

Chicago, Minny, LA, Ana, StL, Wash are all teams that are still trying but on the backside, they all have star players signed for millions that are aging out so some of those GM's may figure that trading away a 2020 pick or even a 2021 might be the next guy's problem or something they will deal with after the new CBA.

I'd try for these:

Edler and a 2nd to Tampa for Raddysh and their 1st. If they win the cup I believe their first goes to NYR. In which case the 1st becomes a second.

Tanev 25 retained to Tor for their first.

Then perhaps package up the later 1st round picks at the draft to have a couple selections in the top 12.

Thoughts?

Carolina is waiving a RH defenceman and his AHL stats look pretty good. Valentin Zykov

The team should load up so Edler and Tanev can be more available at the TDL.

The kid is Russian too so Tryamkin could have two guys to talk to

Zykov is a winger. Just for future reference.
