[Trade] Canucks trade Michael Carcone to Maple Leafs for Josh Leivo

Shinkaruk was a Gillis draft pick. Enough said. What a waste of a 1st round pick. The Canucks got Granlund in return from the trade, who has been a decent player for the Canucks for the past 4 seasons. Where's Hunter? Playing with Laval, and not making any noise there.

This trade is similar. Carcone was never going to be a Canucks player, better players ahead of him. Canucks got Leivo basically for nothing. We still don't know how that will work out, but my guess is he'll get more NHL points than Carcone.

I just checked Shinkaruk's stats. 6 points in 22 games. Brutal.

Well at least Jim didn't give him a 2nd for him lol

I think most of CDC would have been happy if we had traded Gagner with 50% retained for Leivo. A 2nd round pick would have cause a tire fire.

Yes indeed he does get the trash ! That’s why he doesn’t make a play , instead he just takes it to the net , & that’s not always work’n out for him !’ He needs a skilled winger with some finesse! & that’s what jimbo needs to be look’n for, because Green is just gonna keep giving him trash to work with ! It’s a waste of talent. He needs Boeser & Bearchie , Ep was fine with Goldy & Eriksson

Greens trying to hide benning mistakes. Bo works hard and make the others look like less of waste of ice, kinda like hiding pooalot with tanev. But not even tanev could hide the mess.

Bo should get some skill to play with, put ep on the wing and give him bB and Ep. play the he ll out them.

Prime years of BH career will be spent with trash.

Ya I was just reading his contract.   Bullet-proof lol      Well he should be on Sutters line for the duration and hone his shut down skills, to keep him off the top 2 lines

I agree.  Keep him in the bottom six and if that doesn't work sit him in the press box.  He can't seem to finish anymore and can't create on his own or for others.

I know it won't increase his trade value (if that's possible) but it's where he belongs until he proves otherwise.  Maybe it will make him decide to try and facilitate a trade or retire.  Wishful thinking.......

Need two offensive lines. One is too easily shut down.

Never mind that Horvat's also been performing double duties of a shut down line while Beagle/Sutter (and Baer) have been out.

Unfortunately, with injuries and still only mid'ish rebuild, we just have a lack of viable top 6 options. That's not a 'mistake', it's simply a reality of being a mid-rebuild team with injuries.

One offensive line is better than none. Load it up see what happens.

Bo a workhorse warrior, he should be rewarded with some line mates that aren’t just duds.atleast once in a while aside from the pp.

Beagle return will help a lot.

Thinking about it, we really do need help on the wings. Goldy has been a bright spot sure, but Boeser and Baertschi have been out for lengthy stretches, Leipsic got himself cut, and we've even been desperate enough to give Schaller a look in the top 6.

Leivo will get a huge opportunity here.

Absolutely... we know the guys that haven’t made it and we have tried lots of combinations.

It makes sense to throw a couple new bodies in there who still have upside  to see if any magic can happen.

Plus it would be sweet to see Toronto fans lose their crap watching him get 20 goals playing in a top 6 role :)

JB working the lineup and getting things done!

No complaints here. Keep moving the fringe players around until someone steps up and forces you to keep them.

Even with all the losing still having a great time this season. Feel bad for all the bandwagoners who never get to enjoy the actual building process.

And he will. Eventually.

All of this adversity and challenge will serve him well when those guys arrive/develop in coming years (when it matters).

For now, we're a mid-rebuild team dealing with injuries. Screaming at those realities won't change them.

And yes, Beagle returning will help immensely (as will Sutter when he gets back). It allows him to play less, less defense, less hard minutes and focus more on offense.

"When you're in my position, our fans understand we're playing young players and that's the future of our team. They'll be the core of our team going forward. You always want to walk the fine line of winning your share of games while developing players. It's been unfortunate to have so many injuries to our experienced players. It's not fair to our young guys to put so much pressure on them to win as they're finding their way in this league." - Benning
