inane
Waive Brandon Manning and Sam Gagner. Obviously hard to move an elite player, but getting 3 top end prospects including we hope our future #1 goalie plus Buchnevich was enough to tip the scales. Thanks to @Blue Jay 22for being patient - - negotiations started around another player but evolved to this. Hopefully the improved depth will help now and we feel much brighter about the future. 1

Popular Post AV.
31 Thoughts 1. There have been serious smoke coming out of Anaheim that they are looking to blow open their team. If moving out long-time captain Ryan Getzlaf wasn't evidence of this, be sure to keep on an eye on names like Corey Perry, Hampus Lindholm, and goalie John Gibson as @Stamkos looks to re-shape his team. 2. There has been lots of surprise at how well the Arizona Coyotes have been doing to start the season After securing Zuccarello and Bouwmeester during the off-season and having recently added Mike Hoffmann, don't be surprised if @dough teeth is aggressive and adds another piece during the season to improve his team. 3. @Baer. was said to have been ecstatic to have landed 24 year old defender Anthony Florentino during free-agency. The former Sabres draft-pick garnered heavy interest but felt the security of a three-year deal was enough to sign in Boston. 4. Carter Hutton has quietly had a decent season thus far with the Buffalo Sabres, picking up 6 wins and posting 3 shutouts. But rumours had it that @Zhukini did hold discussions with Semyon Varlamov during the off-season. Interesting to see if Buffalo would be any higher or lower in the standings had they landed him. 5. @BM24 is said to be weighing his options with his team. Does he add to his roster in hopes of turning it around or does he start to plan ahead for next season and look at moving out some of his players? 6. Perhaps the league's most interesting, certainly funniest, GM @Gimmix is one to watch for this season. With a lot of cap-space and his team doing quite well in the standings, does he make a play and acquire a big name player at some point this season? Time will tell. 7. Were the Chicago Blackhawks one of the teams that had been in on Leon Draisaitl? "No, not us. (In general,) the 'hawks will not make any trades at the moment (either)" is what GM @Bombastik der Teutone had told me. But you have to think there may have been some interest from a cultural standpoint. 8. @Generational.EP40 is, no doubt, trying to win it all this season. With limited cap-space and a few contracts set to expire, he knows his best chance is this year. A 14-1-1 start is a great sign though for the Avalanche. 9. Was @kj29 set to be over the cap by nearly 10M in the off-season but was stopped due to league intervention? That's what I've heard. 10. After a rough start to the season, the Dallas Stars have found a bit of a groove. Big credit to @Nickoloi for being patient with his group. 11. In a bizarre scenario, the Detroit Red Wings were close to being penalized...for being under the cap floor. Luckily for them, all it took to fixing was @Vrienzy calling up the first overall pick Jack Hughes to reach the floor. 12. Of course, we need to look at the Edmonton Oilers now. After a huge move to send out Leon Draisaitl to the Rangers, it was clear that GM @inane was after youth and guys who could contribute in the present. But could he have gotten more? The answer is yes, if we look at quantity. I've heard that multiple teams offered huge packages for the German forward, similar to the package that Claude Giroux garnered back in the off-season. In the end, the readiness of Andersson and Chytil intrigued Edmonton the most and the trade does set up their team quite nicely moving forward. 13. It's evident that some sort of re-tool or rebuild is on in Florida. After @rowe19 moved out Hoffman and Dadonov and waived Vatrano, it seems as though Florida is making it a goal to get a lot younger and cheaper. 14. There was a real concern in LA when they decided to move out Drew Doughty, given that their best defender was Dion Phaneuf. But GM @Carlutch98 wasn't concerned at all. "I have Durzi, baud. Also, have you seen how good Sean Walker is? Guy's winning the Norris. Btw, check out my new article on OHL Collective" 15. Despite sitting in a playoff spot, there are rumours circulating that Minnesota is looking for a successor to @Alain Vigneault and would like to name them as soon as possible. Not sure how substantial this buzz. 16. The Montreal Canadiens took a chance at hiring newcomer, @falcon45ca. However, with the team playing great hockey, it looks to have been a stellar hiring on their end. 17. Don't be surprised if @Dion Phaneuf makes a shake-up trade. With Nashville out of a spot but not entirely a bottom-feeding team, something has to give. 18. There were rumours before his hiring that @ThaManbeast was going to turn down the Devils job. But it seems he made a great choice to jump aboard as his acquisitions and moves have seen them perform quite well so far. 19. The Isles were one of teams in one Bobby Lynch and Mathieu Sevigny? How did they respond when they missed out? Zach Parise and Dmitry Kulikov were brought on board. Very shrewd from @Nail 20. Speaking of shrewd, look no further than @Blue Jay 22. With the acquisition of Draisaitl, the Rangers now have him with Cozens, Zibanejad, and McCann down the middle. Their prospect pool hardly looks dented either. A big future in New York. 21. In one of the more under-the-radar moves, the Ottawa Senators brought in Derek Stepan from Arizona. Stepan has had a big comeback year so big credit to @MikeyBoy44 on that move which has seen Ottawa be relatively competitive. 22. Just speculation but I would assume that for any big name player that hits the market, @Mr. Quacks and Philadelphia will be in on them. They had interest in Draisaitl, they have a lot of cap to work with, and have a fairly decent sized prospect pool to make a deal happen. 23. It's been pretty quiet in Pittsburgh. But knowing @TheMagicMan, you can never really count them out on anything. 24. Not really a surprise but the Sharks look very dangerous this year. All credit to @Zfetch for building a very deep squad. Let's hope they stay healthy going forward. 25. But sometimes quiet is good. In St. Louis, they've made headlines for the wrong reasons. They've had trouble scoring and with rookie sensation Alex Nylander going down, things have gone from bad to worse. It will be interesting to see how @Jaku will respond. 26. It's business as usual in Tampa Bay. But much like Colorado, they have to win it this year. With a few UFAs and RFAs to deal with, it'll be interesting to see how @Tanev approaches the rest of this season, knowing that next season will be a lot tougher. 27. For a team that acquired Taylor Hall and Drew Doughty, who would have thought that it would be Michael Del Zotto and Valentin Zykov that have been making some of the more meaningful contributions in Toronto. @Sane33 has to be pleased that Toronto is finally trending in the right direction. 28. @WalkWithElias40 made a bunch of moves to turn Vancouver into a competitive team. Next on this list is a goalie. Let's see if he gets it done. 29. Things couldn't have started any worse in Vegas after their abysmal start and Jon Marchessault getting injured. But the promotion of Cody Glass has seen them play better hockey as of late. That's one positive for @Time Lord 30. Washington is one of those team that I believe would be interested in adding a piece to their team sometimes this year. Not sure if it can happen given their cap situation but @Master Mind is very capable of pulling a rabbit out of that hat. 31. It looked like Winnipeg was going to be an island of misfit toys after their truly bizarre decision to trade Blake Wheeler and replace him with Tomas Hertl, Luke Glendening, and Nick Ritchie. But a quick move by @dannyo98 to bring in DeBrusk and Coyle for Hertl has seen them have quite a good start to the season, being 11-3-2. 6 3

Perhaps more picks and more assets, but we're happy with the quality of prospects including who we think is the single best prospect goalie in the league. Time will tell, but we're happy with this move.
