Keeping the corporate Orca will continue to make the Canucks brand one of the biggest laughing stocks and most complex in hockey and North American sports. No logo has ever divided any fan base any more than the Orca Bay-inspired logo.

A load of crap as usual. The JC logo is not as loved as you believe. When Aquilini announced a new uniform years ago (the Orca with original colors) the poll on this board before it was revealed had your beloved running JC just above the least popular Flying V. "Something new" got more votes than JC. How divided was the fanbase? None of the options (Stick'n Rink, Flying V, Skate, Orca, JC, Other) got close to 50% of the vote.

That sums up the actual truth: no matter what the logo is there will be those that don't like it and want something else. Every logo divides this fanbase because every one of them is loved by some and hated by others. It's not our logo that's the laughing stock (other than when the Flying V was revealed) it's our fans. Because no other fanbase has argued more about what the team logo should be or had so many radically different logos used.

A "load of crap as usual", eh?

Johnny canuck finishes dead last in every poll ever done. Not sure where that poll above came from but every single poll here and HF has had JC far and away dead last

If you want to see for yourself and   and finally shut the door on the JC crowd saying it's what the people want.  Run another poll and watch JC finish dead last as usual.

You mean the Orca finishing dead last.

Keeping the corporate Orca will continue to make the Canucks brand one of the biggest laughing stocks and most complex in hockey and North American sports. No logo has ever divided any fan base any more than the Orca Bay-inspired logo. If Johnny Canuck were the primary logo since '97, I highly doubt that there would be outcries to get rid of it compared to the huge number of outcries to ditch the Orca. Well-respected sports uniform expert & critic Don Taylor from Donnie & The Moj says the logo sucks and fully supports Johnny Canuck. Jon Festinger, a regular guest on The Sport Market and a former vice-president of business with CSE has said that the Canucks need to "get rid of that awful Orca".

As for Seattle, it's unlikely they will even use the Hartford Whalers 80's green with blue look. Chances are that they might be a forest green and salmon red team. A colour scheme far different than the Utica Comets beautiful Kelly green look with blue helmets and pants -> that's the look the Canucks should adopt as an alternate.

As for Johnny Canuck, no matter if the alternate is green or blue, a well-designed JC jersey will outsell the Orca.

  • What makes the orca logo laughing stocks?
  • Let's say it was inspired by Orca Bay. What difference does it make? The orca is as much west coast as a lumberjack is. Also, why do you think Orca Bay was called Orca Bay in the first place?
  • Yes I know who Jon Festinger is. He is also a lawyer and was there during the Orca Bay days. He is no longer with the organization and as everyone on this forum is...entitled to their own option. He was obviously out voted during his tenure there (2005-2010)
  • While unlikely, the colour scheme would fit the brand of the other Seattle franchises
  • JC would outsell the orca since the orca would be discontinued

Make a new poll and let's see what the people think bud.  This thread is atleast 70% orca supporters and literally only you and maybe 2 or 3 others who want a cartoon lumberjack as our logo.

The orca is here to stay. It has survived many COOs and Directors of Brand Management.

The Orca is here for now, just as the flying V was around for awhile, just as the stick in the rink was here for a while.

Eventually the Orca will be gone, just a matter of time.

Except, the orca has been our logo the longest out of any of our logos.

Just as the Orca knocked out a previous longevity jersey, so shall it to pass into history.

A new jersey is inevitable, as the revenue stream will be tapped.

The Leafs had the 'Harold Ballard' leaf for the longest time in their history and still changed to an updated version of their classic leaf crest. The Orca has long overstayed its welcome. Even when Messier went back to New York after cashing his Orca Bay pay cheques, the Orca had overstayed its welcome.
