-Vintage Canuck-
Quote NEW YORK (Jan. 2, 2019) – Vancouver Canucks center Elias Pettersson, who led all rookies in goals (6), assists (11), points (17), game-winning goals (4) and plus/minus (tied, +8) in 14 outings, has been named the NHL’s “Rookie of the Month” for December. Pettersson edged Tampa Bay Lightning center Anthony Cirelli (5-4—9 in 14 GP), Toronto Maple Leafs left wing Andreas Johnsson (3-6—9 in 13 GP) and Ottawa Senators center Colin White (3-6—9 in 14 GP) for the honor. Pettersson, who also was named Rookie of the Month for October, registered at least one point in 10 of his 14 December appearances – including a seven-game streak from Dec. 4-16 (4-9—13) – to power Vancouver to an 8-5-1 month. Pettersson notched four multi-point performances, highlighted by his second five-point effort of the season Dec. 9 at STL (1-4—5). In doing so, he became the sixth rookie in the NHL’s expansion era (since 1967‑68) to record multiple five-point games within a single season – and the second to achieve the feat before the end of December (also Bryan Trottier: 1975-76 w/ NYI). The 20-year-old Sundsvall, Sweden, native – who was selected fifth overall in the 2017 NHL Draft – has played in 36 total games this season, topping rookies in goals (19), assists (20), points (39), power-play goals (tied, 5), power-play assists (7), power-play points (12), game-winning goals (6) and shooting percentage (26.0%) Elias Pettersson in December Date Opponent G A P Result Dec. 1 DALLAS 0 0 0 2-1 L Dec. 4 MINNESOTA 0 1 1 3-2 L Dec. 6 NASHVILLE 1 1 2 5-3 W Dec. 9 at St. Louis 1 4 5 6-1 W Dec. 11 at Columbus 1 1 2 3-2 W Dec. 13 at Nashville 0 1 1 4-3 OT L Dec. 15 PHILADELPHIA 0 1 1 5-1 W Dec. 16 EDMONTON 1 0 1 4-2 W Dec. 18 TAMPA BAY 0 0 0 5-2 L Dec. 20 ST. Benning got a great one here. I know it would be amazing to get the 1st this year (and draft J. Hughes), but I would also be very happy with any of the players ranked in the Top 12. Looks like a good draft.
Cluminati*
He definitely earned it! Well done EP40. As if the bullseye on his back was not big enough, it just got bigger for the goons on the opposing teams. Keep your head up alien Petey.

coastal.view
i thought this was a news item? how about we assume ep40 wins it every month from now on and only issue a news item if someone else wins it instead of him so much ado about nothing really canucks would not trade ep40 for all 3 of those others he apparently "edged out" this month
IBatch
EP’s only real competition right now is Dahlin....there are some solid rookies having good first years, but these two are ahead by a fair margin. BTs monster comeback after an early season is starting to look more like an anomaly then his norm. Look forward to seeing his name on many of the three stars over the next month, and another rookie of the month designation in January.
Canucks-12
Canucks were winless in games where EP didn’t register a point for the month of December.
