Liberals win minority government

Thread has slowed to a crawl. Without Strome v. Hip, this thread just lacks any appeal. Who will remind us that Andrew Scheer won the popular vote or that Justin Trudeau is actually Fidel Castro's biological son? This void cannot be filled.

TBH, I know there is no lost love between you too, but I like to hear opposing views that foster an “argument “

I didn’t mind lot of those that got banned in Trump thread.

Now, most of us agree that DT is a disgrace but only few are willing to defend him which creates an eco chamber of sort.

It’s crazy how trumps song choice can get three pages of conversation, or Kenney’s copywriter choice gets called out....but another liberal scandal comes out and crickets.

strange, people here must have that same bi partisan bias CBC has. Lol

I found it weird there wasn't more convo about the crazy military guy taking his guns to go likely shoot our leader.

Suppose it would have got some decent chatter if he succeeded.

Trump will always get a lot of attention. Have you seen the car crash going on down there? the whole world is watching, mostly because the US has soo much power and influence globally.

Shame that 'We Day' folks are in this investigation. The events in Vancouver really motivated a couple of my nephews. Got them into charity etc..

Let's see what the investigation turns up.  Let's see if there is full cooperation.   But in some eyes this makes JT the worst ever.  We'll see.

So You don’t think the media is slanted?  Lol.

Hmm funny seen you complaining about fox in another thread. Or is it only slanted when they are right leaning?

I have to question, do some of ever just stop and think about how big of hypocrites you are?

Seeing as how every publication in Canada has outright and openly supported conservative candidates and parties over the last 2 decades I'd say yes.

There's a slant.

Some media roots for the right, some for the left, even fewer try for the middle. Seems even up to me.

Everybody is being biased and unfair to conservatives. A staple of modern conservatism is the victim complex regarding the 'media'.

lol,  co founder now says he ' misspoke' when he earlier announced the PM's office directly contacted him.... funny how that happens when an investigation gets under way.

I'm too lazy to look it up but with respect to printed media (eg., newspapers), the majority of editorial boards gave it's support to the Cons at least in the most recent election.  Course, only dinosaurs read the newspaper today.:P

Canaidna media is owned by a select number of people who for the last 2 decades have overwhelmingly endorsed conservatives.  You can say it's not true but....

Media Ownership

Beyond standard concerns over matters like accuracy and bias, the issue of ownership continues to be one of the biggest controversies surrounding contemporary Canadian media and journalism. Canada has very few independently owned and operated newspapers, magazines, TV channels, or radio stations; almost every outlet of note is part of some vast empire owned by a handful of the country’s richest families.

Today, more than 80 per cent of Canadian media is owned by a cartel of just five corporations: Bell Media, Rogers Media, PostmediaCorus, and Torstar, each of which own dozens of different print publications and television networks under various subsidiaries and affiliates. In fact, it’s actually quite hard to keep track of who owns what on any given day, since the “big five” are almost constantly engaged in ongoing schemes to merge, buy out, or take over each other and their various properties.

The controversy tends to be most pronounced in individual Canadian provinces and cities, many of which may find all, or at least most of their community’s major newspapers, television channels, and radio stations owned by the same company, as Canadian media corporations tend to stake out different geographic “zones” of influence. The result can be very repetitive coverage, as well as concerns about what stories aren’t being seen when a single company does all the selecting.

This hilarious.  Newspapers are NOT Canadian media.  You list 5 "newspaper" sources from data pulled 6 years ago and claim the "media" is conservative. Also Postmedia bought sun media in 2015.  In 2014 the newspaper circulation was only 2.7million, imagine how low that number is today, you really proved a point there. hahah

Regardless the Toronto Star is Canada’s largest daily print newspaper, with the largest readership in the country. is really supports your laughable claim that "EVERY publication in Canada has outright and openly supported conservative" I mean you, yourself debunked that claim with your last post.  haha

Swing and a miss....

Well hips chart doesn't include them because he only posted "newspapers" based on 2014 circulation. You know because newspapers represent the media in 2020. haha

Anyway here is Canada's 10 largest news media outlets.

https://www.allyoucanread.com/

1) CBC - Left biased - https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/cbc-news-canadian-broadcasting/

2) The Globe and Mail - Right biased - https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/the-globe-and-mail/

3) Toronto Star - Left biased - https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/toronto-star/

4) CTV News - No Bias - https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/ctv-news/

5) Huffington Post- Left bias - https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/huffington-post/

6) La Presse - Left bias - https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/la-presse/

7) Global News - Left bias - https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/global-news/

8) National Post - Right bias - https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/national-post/

9) journal de montreal - Right bias - https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/montreal-gazette/

10) Toronto Sun - Right bias - https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/toronto-sun/

Canada's top 5 news media outlets are dominated by left biases.  But no, no, there is no media slant.  pfft  :picard:

Why not post something if it doesn't help prove your point...

We need full disclosure while talking about these sort of issues.  Pointing fingers at one side while claiming innocence doesn't solve anything.

Gives us a top 10 list that is:

5 left bias

1 no bias

4 right bias

That is utter domination of left bias.

Again  LOL.

Circulation size comes into effect.  Included in CBC is their radio,  Their radio along is the 4th biggest news media outlet in Canada.  The bigger they are, the larger their reach, the more sway the have on the population.  Toronto sun represents 1/10 of the circulation CBC has.

I think this was meant to disprove the statement above that everything has a con slant.

You'd have to either live under a rock, or just be ignorant to believe the media bias only swings one way.

Because most people here are not trying to have an honest discussion.  Their minds have been made up and instead they are focussed on trying to prove their point, even if that means being intellectually dishonest.  Some people you can tell they are purposely being dishonest, while others are just ignorant to their claims.

A good litmus test for this is to look at the trump thread.  If you asked people, "if trump did something good, would you acknowledge it", if the answer is no, then you immediately know they are not interested in an open discussion.  Same could be said in this thread, "if JT did something good, would you acknowledge it".

You see it everywhere you go.  Ignorance is bliss.

I think this issue stems from the right/left wing idea.  That's such a dumb way compartmentalize everyone.
