Nuke
My team in sweden SHL has signed Jason Garrison, former NHL defenseman. He played for Canucks some time too. Can anyone tell me what kind of player this is? Will he do well in SHL?

He was known primarily for having a very hard slapshot. He was most recently waived by the Chicago Blackhawks after being traded from the Edmonton Oilers. Maybe I blinked or something?

HerrDrFunk
He's very slow and his defensive skills are suspect. I don't think the larger ice surface will be his friend. By all accounts he's a very nice guy though.
Toyotasfan
As slow as he is , I can’t imagine how bad that’s going to go on the bigger ice surface.
luckylager
On a positive note - his slapper is hard and he gets it off quickly due to a very short / low wind up. He fires off his back foot too...kinda weird that way.

D.B Cooper
Decent size. Doesn’t use it. Slow as molasses. Huge shot. Pretty inaccurate tho. Might have troubles with the rink being so much bigger. I could see him getting skated around a lot. Decent defensively though.
Elias Pettersson
He's related to Dana Murzyn...
JeremyCuddles
Most have already touched on him pretty accurately. He sounds like a good guy though. So there's that. Good luck to him though, he is very likely gonna need it.
NewbieCanuckFan
Father Time had caught up with Garrison. Still he hasn’t played much in the past few years (healthy scratch, used as depth, rather than being injured) so even though he is 34 years old, there isn’t as much mileage on his body as that might indicate. OT - reminds me of the rather odd album title Pete Townshend had “All the best cowboys have Chinese eyes”.
Jaku
He once had a good season because of Brian Campbell and Vancouver gave him a ridiculous contract because of it. He's slow and doesn't use his size well.

Ridiculous contract? What do you expect free agent #4 to get? (He was a number 4 then and yes, having a fluke year in goal scoring inflates your value..look at trash Schaller for an example). Bolts still got at least one good year out of him (as a #4) when we dealt him.

Quinn Hughes seems to play a similar game and both guys are 5'10, so if Hughes can bulk up about 20 lbs, they may be similar players. And in turn help elevate Gudbranson's game assuming they are paired while he adds a heavy side for that pairing.
