Vancouver, BC - Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the club has recalled forward Tanner Kero from the Utica Comets.

Kero, 26, ranks second on the Comets in goals (16) and points (36) and shares the team lead in assists (20) and power play goals (7). He split the 2017.18 season between the Chicago Blackhawks (1-2-3 in eight games) and Rockford IceHogs (8-12-20 in 36 games). The 6-0, 185-pound centre has appeared in 72 career NHL games, collecting 22 points (8-14-22).

Just had a quick looks at Kero's stats and he's been putting up decent numbers for Utica. Would be nice if he could transition that to the NHL level. Hopefully its not a Horvat injury or a Petey setback

Interesting that it's not Gaudette being called up.

I wonder if this means Horvat's injured? That'd be quite the kick in the nuts with Pettersson's return imminent.

Going to speculate that Horvat's injury last night is a bit more serious than anticipated - or at least the idea of being day-to-day is a better precaution in the meantime.

Kero has been doing pretty well down in Utica over the last little while - solid numbers, defensively sound, so he is worth a call up to see if he has the next gear to showcase on the NHL level. He had a few good outings the last time he was in the Show with Chicago.

Perhaps they want Gaudette to settle into a Top-6 role down there for a bit longer, instead of him travelling back and forth from the farm team to the Bigs. He has earned that role, no doubt, but it could be more taxing to have him heading back and forth. He had a beauty of a tip-in last night too.

I checked his salary.  I'm not great at understanding these numbers, but it looks like he gets paid the same whether in the NHL or not?

you appear to be right alf

but still a call up is a reward

the per diem is higher in the nhl

he'll stay in a nicer hotel

gets to be in the big city

can meet all the key canuck players

he's unlikely to play a game

will sit in the press box if still up for the next game

and then sent back down

no need to call up gaudette for a 1 game stint

they basically just did that
