The Fs production would go up with offensive Ds.

Yes I understand that but not as much as the benefits of adding a 20 goal scorer who can patrol petey's wing, and a 6'5 defender who can skate and help keep pucks out. Our issues are more about keeping the puck out and 'transition'. Meyers will help there, and we do have Hughes coming. When you look at those adds and how they will help in wins and losses that will always benefit more than one Karlson

I'd prefer to spread that money to 2 holes LW and RD - Ferland for $5 and Meyers for $7 = better than one Karlson for $11-12

Yeah, no kidding. While it would be nice to have him on the team, the cost would absolutely be excessive to sign him. That $11 - 12 M / year for 7 years would almost certainly be looking like an albatross contract by the time it's halfway done. If we could get him for $9 M x 5 years as some here suggest, that would be great, but there is no way that would happen.

And that offence from the defence is exactly why the Sharks are at the top, and we are near the bottom.  We should absolutely go after EK July 1st.  EK and QH together would get us those much needed points from our D.  We would move to the top.

Better possession game and higher production from the Fs - less time defending too.  Thornton was saying that their Fs were not ready for Karlsson - he was making plays that none of them expected and that's why his numbers were low to start.

At least Horvat has Leivo, man. Can't wait til we can get someone legit to play with him like Petey has Boeser. Him and Baer made a nice duo but Baer's in a tough spot. :(

Do you think either of Virtanen or Lind (or even Dahlen) can do it?  Obviously, Lind and Dahlen are a year away, at best.

big advantage over a deadline acquisition, where these kinds of complications don't necessarily have time to work/play themselves out....

Put Dahlen with his old mate Pettersson and see what will happen. And with Boeser in the mix we'll have one hell of a forward line. Chemistry is great and adds more than a year in Utica.

Sounds great to me.  My guess is that Dahlen is a better fit with Pettersson than Goldobin will ever be.  Doesn't solve the Horvat problem though... unless Goldobin catches fire with Horvat.
