First Petey, congrats on setting the new record! i certainly admire that in an elite athlete and a elite humility found only in a select few and i'm glad that your on our team mr alien, because your skill is out of this world and so is your class when you displayed it in the hawks post game interview where the record was brought up and you acknowledged it but quickly deflected it to  talking about the team.

 "That" is class!

Anyway! Passing bure's season record? Didn't think i'd live to see that!

Well done Petey!!!

You're right. Early season, when they interviewed his Ma, she let us know about his true quality. Despite hitting the Swedish league like an A-bomb, she said he hadn't changed. She seemed so proud of how he maintained his humility & character.

We've got an ABSOLUTE GEM here, folks.

Bure tied the record before defensive systems, bigger pads on goalies, and the butterfly style.

No one will argue Bure was electrifying as a goal scorer.

EP40 just thinks and sees things so well. And he's a rookie.

He's just 20 years old. Wait until he fills out. The best is yet to come!

Sure... but it's taken someone 28 years to pass Bure. It'll be a long time until we see someone doing it again.

Perhaps.  We've had two guys in the last two seasons that would have done it barring injuries.

Something like Hawerchuk / Lemieux / Bossy / Nieuwendyk / Juneau / Selanne should be safe for a long time.  But then again, Hawerchuk got 103 points as a rookie for the Jets and it was only 10 years or so before Selanne blew that out of the water.

I hope he grows and improves as predicted.  He's being called a generational talent across the board, but as great as he is, the reality is that the league scoring leader has literally twice his points.

This is a spectacular feat.  He did in 60 games too, which is 4 games faster than Bure hit 60.  I think it is pretty clear his new record by the time he adds points from the remaining games wont be likely beaten for decades.

Or we fluke out, win the lottery, draft Hughes, play him on the first line and move EP to wing, keep Boeser on the line and Hughes hits the jockpot (that’s a jackpot for sure), and gets 90 points to obliterate the old record (one year old) and set the bar for decades.  Also both EP and Boeser score fifty goals, as Q Hughes fixes the PP and obliterates rookie defenseman scoring ... and EP sets the new bar for most points by a Canuck with 121

edit:  and since this is fantasy, we finish the year with a 16-0 record on the way to our first cup...

yeah but how many league leading scorers have a defense core that cant make a tape to tape pass to save their lives.

how many more goals would petey have if edler could manage to hit petey stick with a pass. and not make him move out of position to receive the pass?

Food for thought.

The guy leading the NHL in points was drafted 58th overall in the second round.

Well done Lightning.

You just never really do know ... Messier might be the best pick ever outside the first round...Kucherov is giving him a run for his money right now though.  Over the years there has been some tremendous later round steals...Theo Fluery, Zetterberg, St Louis,  Datsyuk, Robataille, Bondra, Lundqvist and Rinne (the last two picked after 200, or 7th and 8th round...wow), and Jamie Benn and Bure round out the field.

Not to mention the Hansen’s and Gaudettes of the world, they are just as important as hitting on your first rounders...

Well done Lightning indeed.  Their extra cap helps them a lot too (they have 8plus more millions to spend then almost every other team in the NHL),  but Point, Gourde and this year Cirelli are also helping...their second line is as good as half the first lines in the league, and their third line could be a excellent second line if they got the assignments..

TB just might have the best scouts in the league given relative to their draft position they are outstanding...same with Boston, no wonder they are two contenders right now.

Well, Tampa Bay's 2011 draft results may ( too lazy to research ) be the 'best ever'. Even Capt Hindsight would be hard pressed to find fault. ( well......except for flubbing that 6th round pick when DeMelo and Dzingel were available ..../s )

Elias is a great addition for a team, but as good as he is he still needs help. The entire team needs more.

The current team goal of "playing meaningful games in March" is laughable.

This management group has deteriorated fan expectations from a cup contender to not even a playoff spot, 5 years and now the ultimate season goal is to win 5 more games than last year and "play meaningful games in March".

Fire this management group, plan for the next decade not the next day.

Beaming with pride over "our boy".  He's a keeper and is so much more than expected.  I mean, we saw the potential for scoring but who knew he was so on top of all the other aspects in this game?  Wow, go Petey.  I haven't been this excited about our team for awhile.

Sky's the limit.
