I’m just happy he’s trending upwards. Imagine if he has gotten worse since year one with us?

Last year was a nice step forward for Eriksson. This year... not so much. He's about tied his production from his first season in Vancouver.

I see him as 'a' fit.  Not a great one though. Yet.

Jake has a bad case of stone hands.  Doesn't bode well for those quick bang bang plays.

Jake does not pass well, or often.  He is a very one dimensional offensive player.

Hoping he does well, though.

The big upside to this is Jake's back check will be welcome, as 40/6 get hemmed in their own end a LOT.

It's true that Jake is not the second coming of Adam Oates, but he has made some good passes that showed some vision this year, more than in the past.  The only way it will ever be clear if he can become a top 6 player is to give him a chance with other top 6 players.  He has barely played with linemates who think the game at a higher level and might respond to it, whether immediately or over time.  Maybe the hope is that his rushes can open up some ice for Petey:  it's worth a try.

But you're right, it still isn't a very obvious fit.  Bo and Pearson seem more his style, and he might even learn to take it to the net playing with them.

PREGAME | Brogan Rafferty

Another eager, well spoken young lad to cheer on..is it just my imagination, or is our group attracting mostly just classy, character kids?

League will prob double all our suspension terms as punishment!

Good luck kid..& say thanks to Gramps for the tune, Baker St. (got no time for whacko serial killers, immediately think of Gerry Rafferty when I hear this handle)

edit: Btw, love the lines!..& Happy Bday to the Bulldog!

Only took Greenie 3 years to try it. Hopefully he sticks with it for more than a few shifts.

Its almost too late for the experiment  as Jake needs more than 2 games to learn how to benefit this skill level,

If he just wins the board battles, crashes the net and they pop in a couple goals, will be glad to eat all written words!

Would like to see Jake more then any other Canuck succeed TBH considering the tool box he possesses.

Considering that Virtanen played the LW all through junior, it is incredible that it has taken this long to finally put him on his natural wing side.

A lot of us have wondered about this.  All of Virtanen's best work seems to involve him on this wing, even if he starts out on the other side at the face off.

He's much better offensively on the LW.

Listed as RW all but one game in Junior.

Heres to hoping Jake plays well and gets the full time chance to play the first stint of next year in the top 6 more than this year. The kid has played good. Imo.

While that may be true. All of his offense comes from the left side of the ice, it's plain as day. Boeser's offense also comes predominantly from that side too so it will be interesting to see how that dynamic works with Green's overload style of system.

for sure, he more then most would benefit from the same line mates whether its the Horvat line or Pettersson for 10+ games or so

I think which is why they developed his defensive game on the right side.  We saw him take a lot of low percentage shots and have a lack of drive towards the net because of playing on the right side.  It's easier for a powerfoward to take it the net on his off wing because he can protect the puck much better.  If Jake can rekindle the offense he's shown playing the left side while in junior, mixed with the defensive play he's developed over the last few years playing on the right, he could become that player we've been wanting out if him for the past couple of years now: a versatile powerforward that can play both wings.  This starts tonight!

He's been due for about 2 1/2 years. He's still due. Two years from now, he'll still be due. His dueness is perpetual.

He's still developing
